Re: Fears and phobias
It's just the fact that I have no idea what is below me, I guess. I'm not paranoid; I still swim out to sand bars and stuff. It's fun, and I get over the fear pretty quickly, but when my foot first strikes the ground, I always flip out a little. Like, crapwhat'sthat As for large boats, well, I don't know what to say. It's just the huge metal hull, cutting through the water, nowhere to grab on, too big to swim around in time... then the propellers at the back... A lot of my reoccurring nightmares consist of huge objects moving very slowly but never stopping, constantly moving precisely toward my position. Being trapped out in the water with a huge boat coming right at you would just.... Here are some examples of pictures that give me chills: ![]() That is a freakin HOLE in the ocean. ![]() What am I supposed to do in this situation? |

Re: Fears and phobiasOh god Blue Holes are fucking weird.

Re: Fears and phobias
Scuba divers love them, and I'm like, why would you venture into the great maw of the deep? I am very serious about how uncomfortable that sort of thing makes me feel. Ehhhhh... |

Re: Fears and phobias
Sigh... Needs tentacles. And mysterious lights shining up from the center. Complete waste of what COULD be a perfectly good gaping hole in the ocean... |

Re: Fears and phobiasIncredibly sorry for necro-bumping but here are my fears.
1. Insects. I don't know why, I just fear them. Maybe it's cause I fear them crawling up my skin and then entering it some way 2. Black Holes. (Sorta) I only get a slight creepy shiver from Black Holes. I'm actually very interested in them. Also, picture this. You are in the void of space with a space suit on. When suddenly, you start moving towards an object. You suddenly realize your attracted to a black hole. Knowing theres no escape, you helplessly attempt to escape it as you suddenly die because of you splitting apart due to the black hole. Yeah, a black hole is a freaking HOLE in the Universe that SUCKS YOU INTO IT. Oh and did i mention that not even light can escape it. Re: Fears and phobiasI have extremely bad arachnaphobia (fear of spiders). Not like, "ooh gross it's a spider over there". I'm talking like that one time in the garage I saw two spiders on the floor where I was picking something up. They were very close to my hands, and I began trembling. Like physically shaking. It's bad.

Re: Fears and phobiasOh, yeah, I hate spiders.
As for the black hole thing, you wouldn't be ripped apart, I don't think. You'd just be gone in an instant. |

Re: Fears and phobias
I got the same thing but with Insects. And also, black holes are FRICKEN HOLES OUT IN SPACE THAT SUCK YOU INTO IT CAUSE THEY HATE YOU. And I red that they rip you apart, they don't just suck you into it. People say that Black Holes have such a big gravity that they distort space itself. NOW THAT. Is freaking scary. Re: Fears and phobiasI don't like insects, but the only ones I'm really afraid of are bees. I've never been stung before, and for some reason I think that when I do get stung I'll have a really bad allergic reaction and end up hospitalized.

Re: Fears and phobiasI guess I have two phobias. One is breaking bones, I am TERRIFIED of breaking bones, I know that's kind of lame, but I freak out thinking about it. I also have a fear of falling, not a fear of heights. I can be way up high so long as I can't easily fall.

Re: Fears and phobias
I used to be scared of bees, but then I grew out of it/bees started getting rarer (hurray!) ![]() "The world is changing and one does need to choose sides, and sometimes things change so fast that its hard to tell one side from the other." --George Abbot |

Re: Fears and phobiasI recently discovered that I'm scared of certain surrealist art. For instance, I don't know why, but Salvador Dali's "Elephants" scares the crap out of me. It's the odd sense of isolation it has, I guess, with the only living things (and nearly the only things period) being these two freakish creatures. And yet I'm fascinated by the stuff. And I'm still scared of super deep water, crazy huge sea monsters, that kind of thing. Basically, anything that I can picture or associate with something normal, I'm fine with. It's those things that I can't comprehend or that have no relation to anything that actually exists that freak me out.
Oh, by the way...
I can't believe no one called me out on this. ![]()
