Strange Places & Creatures

Just post pics or videos of strange, eerie or alien-like environment or creatures. It can be something from Earth, other planets in the solar system. So yeah, this is about making a gallery of sorts.

Without further ado, I'll get started.

Salar de Uyuni, Bolivia, South America

Roraima, Venezuela

Sure the last one looks normal, but its a videogame store in Paris and that floor is completely flat :-?

Edit: Also, that third picture you posted Remnants reminds me of Skyward Sword

That one is actually in the three-way border between Brazil, Venezuela and Guyana. Roraima is also the name of the Brazilian state in that area. I've heard of it before, but it's not talked about much around here...

Scorpion Fish is one that has brilliant coloring and sometimes resemble the coral that they like to hide around.

A giant lake of fire (notice the man in the lower-left of the second image):

Lightning strikes a volcanic eruption:

Correct me if I'm wrong, but I believe those last two are colorized images from an electron microscope. Looks awesome, though. :thumbsup:

The Tuatara: a lizard closely related to dinosaurs that also is born with 3 eyes :kraid:

Called by many the most alien place on earth: Socotra island

The so-called "door to hell". Some explorers lit it up 40 years ago to eliminate the poisonous gases... it may take a while. It's still burning today...

Edit: Yay, we now have almost enough strange places for an entire Metroid game :awesome:

Also, here's the water bear, capable of surviving near absolute zero to 151 degrees celsius, being in a vacuum, 1200x atmospheric pressure, a blast of radiation 1000x stronger than what humans can survive, and going into space unprotected. Finally, competition for the 'troids :metroid:

You want to see some amazingly weird, crazy fish? well, this site kicks loads of ass.

Check the cookie cutter shark:

Says it has the largest tooth-to-body ratio of any shark in the ocean.

And the Tigerfish, which live in the congo:

largest one found weighed almost 100lbs (45kg)!!!!!!!!!
