Prometheus. It's quite a spectacle. The story on it's own isn't too remarkable, really, but coupled with the Alien mythos, it's kinda deep and disturbing. If you go see it, keep in mind that it is not a direct prequel to Alien. It focuses mostly on where the space jockey came from. I'm going to go see it again with friends later. <3

Just finished watching journey 2. Also saw mib3 today. That was a fun movie. Really liked both.

I've read not-too-great things about it. Good to know you liked it.

The Brazilian release was a mess; I wanted to have watched it this weekend, but figuring out whether or not it had been released here was hell. Gonna try during this week. I only watched the first Alien and its sequel a few months ago, and found them really, really good. I hope Prometheus doesn't disappoint. :)

Just watched Prometheus a few nights ago, myself. I must be easily impressed, because I very much enjoyed it. It kept the Alien feel and had a wonderful atmosphere about it. I kind of want to see it again, myself. <3

Yah, I thought Prometheus was great. It sure held my interest.

Shhhh.... >_> I noticed two inconstancy errors. lol.

1. Name tags placed on the helmets at the start of the film, were later removed. Not sure if this was intentional... but it confused me.

2. The lead character, Shaw. Her erm... 'medical' scene (not to spoil much) had a clip out of sequence with the rest of the events.
When the medical-machine sowed her 'wound' up. Right afterward the camera shows her 'wound' was opened again and then the final scene while she's running, it's back to being fully sown.
Hey guys.
It comes with a heavy heart that I am considering locking and removing this topic forever. It's basically a breeding ground for spammers. They sweep through like-named threads on the internet, find them, and then spam them. Other counter-measures such as disabling URLs until you have made X amount of posts are too punitive for legit members, so it's not quite something I want to implement.

This topic gets about 2-3 spam posts per week and frankly I'm sick and tired of deleting them. It's really this thread more than anything else. So unfortunately there is a very good chance it will be removed completely. I hope you understand.

Give me some good reasons why I shouldn't and I'll listen. Otherwise, if no one really cares, then it will disappear from this forum for good. Also - if someone could find a non-punitive workaround or solution via an add-on to the board, I'm all ears. Here's where you should start looking: http://www.phpbb.com/customise/db/modifications-1/

I'm thinking of some way we could make it so if a "newly registered member" tries to create a thread that has a URL in it, it will be moderated. Something like that isn't a defaulted option on the administrative options here, so it would have to be an add-on.

We could just change the name of the topic to something all of us legitimate users will understand but spammers won't even bother looking at? Like, a code kind of thing.

"The Official [Random Every Day Object] Thread"

For example, movies are always shipped to theaters under random names, The Dark Knight was Rorys First Kiss, etc

It would be a cool nod to the film industry

I thought that too. It could work, but new users would certainly be confused.

How about renaming the thread "What was the lastmovie you watched?".

Perhaps the bots aren't smart enough to recognise the word "movie" within "lastmovie", I'm sure the rest of us can.

I don't think any renaming is going to help, consider that the bots can read the posts as well, not just the topic titles. The bots are smarter than you think. Every post in this thread also says the topic title at the top, so it kinda defeats the purpose of renaming the thread completely. We are currently looking into better spambot countermeasures, but if push comes to shove, this topic is going to get the cut.

This is lame. I love this topic. I think making it so noobs have to post 20 times before they can post URLs is a good idea... It's better for them to prove their intent than have to penalize the legit users that just want to converse, but that's just my opinion.

I totally see where you're coming from but it's just unfortunate

Moderating new user's first 5 to 10 posts would probably be the best option, but that won't cut down Inf's workload, because he'll have to still go through these posts and remove the links.

Completely not allowing new user's to post links for say, either their first 5 to 10 posts is something I think we should try to avoid, as it will punish more legit users then fight against spam bots.

well, there's still hope.
We may have to update or completely change the entire style of the board in order to get some better conveniences which newer versions of PHPBB give, one of those being a better spambot countermeasure. Updating the board's style and theme has been a long time coming, but we've just put it off. The convenience of no longer having to deal with these absolutely idiotic spambots will be worth updating the board to a newer style.

And just so no one freaks out, everyone's posts will be perfectly fine, there just might be some very slight aesthetic changes. We are going to try and make the board as close as we can to how it is now. I can't make any guarantees, though.

I just saw Amazing Spider Man last night. It was really good. Could've been fleshed out a bit more; he goes from being bitten to knowing all of his powers pretty quickly.

His reasons for becoming Spidey are selfish at first but shortly after he realizes he can do more. It was pretty cool. Lizard was cool, his face was the only lame part.

Can't wait for the sequel.

All in all not the best summer movie, that still is a spot rightfully owned by The Avengers.
