Prometheus!

Postby Lucid Flower » 12.23.11 10:53am

Well, I am pretty excited for this since I grew up with Alien. Even better Ridley Scott is returning to Sci-Fi/Fantasy

The trailer for this almost made me as happy as a new Metroid game announcement!

I'm really excited for this movie. I mean, obviously the trailer was made to get Alien(s) fans excited – what with how the title is introduced and all – but hey, it worked! :awesome:
I'm a little wary of all the apparent action-packed CG stuff, but I guess I just have to hope that Scott won't let those be the main portion of the movie. Even if they are, I'll probably enjoy it though. >_>

One of the few movies I am anticipating next year. I love the idea, I love the Alien series (and get annoyed when people misspeak and call it the Aliens series, ha ha), and would love to see what new ideas Scott brings to the series that crashed and burned with Resurrection, AVP, and the hilariously fucktarded AVP:R. Both (AVPs) of which never happened.

The trailer doesn't really reveal too much; it's a lot of disjointed imagery. But I too, fanboy that I am, did love how the title showed up. At least we'll have the franchise (or whatever this movie wants to bill itself as) in the hands of someone who actually A) knows how to make a movie, and B) knows something about the lore of the universe.

That's not to say Cameron and Fincher didn't do great jobs (Alien3 is flawed, but its atmosphere, script, and pacing are all top-notch, I feel. Aside from that fucking attempted-rape scene, which gets all of my hate.), but Scott made the one masterpiece out of all four films.

yeah, there is some CG stuff in the movie. But listening to Scotts commentaries, leads me to believe he really likes old school camera tricks and, he has always liked big sets/models. I don't feel like the whole movie will rely too much on CG. Not that it would ruing anything for me. Before I heard he was making this, the rumor was that Fox was ready to green-light a full remake of Alien

Scott must have stepped up and told them not to fuck with his movie...because he had a better idea. This just makes sense.

..............

OK so speculation time.

Anyone think the space jockey race (who or whatever the fuck they are?) created the human race?

They obviously really seemed to like bio weapons...I was wondering if the vase looking things in rows on the ground are Xenomorph eggs....in cans/shells?

seems weird maybe botulism? I would maybe think the distress signal from alien, is from the crew of the Prometheus :-?

Ominous yep.

Prometheus has NOTHING to do with AVP. It's the same director that made the original Alien.

It was very good, btw.

I liked the movie. There were some stupid moments, especially with those two idiots when they meet the penis-snake, but I liked the visual style. The only really bad effects were the old man makeup for Mr. Weyland and the absurdly bad CGI for
the giant squid facehugger at the end.
Suckers.

I agree. Why would you try to touch or contact the penis snake?

I thought it was a really good movie. Not amazing, no masterpiece, but really solid and good. Definitely worth the R$15 I paid on the IMAX ticket. I could write pages about what was great, what wasn't very good and what means what where, but I really don't think I need to.

Can't wait for the potential sequels.

Me either. Still want to see the evolution of the Xenomorph.

I liked it a lot! It was very well put together and even if things were stupid and there were a couple plot holes, It was still very good.
Here is some humor.

A summary of what David did through out the movie :)

I also liked David quite a bit. His evilness was.. intriguing.

Hahahaha that is way too accurate.

I almost want to see this movie again. And I rarely see movies in theater more than once
