Re: My Little Pony Friendship is Magic ThreadIt's becoming harder and harder to get the episodes online ever since Ponyarchive went down... I'd buy the episodes on iTunes, but the Brazilian store doesn't offer TV shows. They only recently started selling music and movies. In any case, Baby Cakes was a fun episode. It had been a while since the last Pinkie episode (the classic Party of One), so it was an enjoyable watch. |

Re: My Little Pony Friendship is Magic ThreadThis is quite random, but I was bored today, and decided to visit the part of my mental library that has volumes of information from Greek mythos. It was here that I happened upon an epiphany. The six eldest greek deities appear to share more than a few similarities with the "mane six":
Fluttershy (Hestia): Hestia, being the goddess of the hearth, home and family, fits Fluttershy in many ways. FS often provides homes for animals, and provides warmth for them (thus, the hearth). She was also often the eldest of the three great goddesses in mythology, and it can be noted that only Fluttershy has given a hint to her respective age, saying that she is about a year older than Pinkie Pie, making her one of the eldest. Finally, Hestia was a Virgin goddess, representing her purity and innocence, two traits FS also exhibits often Rarity (Hera): One figurative "Drama Queen" and one literal queen of the gods. They both can tend to be extremely jealous, but also quite motherly. Hera was also the greek goddess of marriage, which tends to, in western cultures, be associated with intricate gowns and dresses. Lastly is her title as "White-Armed" which could be taken as having possession of open, giving arms, or simply the fact that Rarity is one of the only white ponies Applejack (Demeter): Demeter, the greek goddess of the harvest, also represented unwritten law, law often times being representative of truth. She also had two titles that could strengthen her connection to AJ. 1)Agganipe: "the Mare who destroys mercifully" which happens to have a similar word structure to Applejack, and 2)Alophoros: "apple-bearer" or "sheep-bearer" which should be fairly self-explanatory Rainbow Dash (Poseidon): Wait what? Why not Zeus? Well, the answer is because I feel someone else better fits Zeus' personality. Still, Poseidon was also infamous for causing storms, as well as shaking the earth, something that happens every time a sonic rainboom occurs. And then there's the fact that both characters are proud and willing to be quite merciless when trying to get what they want, whethr that means ceating in a race or sending monsters to terrorize a country. Also, to appeal to any Appledash shippers, Poseidon and Demeter, as the stallion and the mare respectively, were said in one myth to have conceived Arion. So... yeeeeaaaah... Pinkie Pie (Zeus): Let's begin our comparison with these two's childhoods. Zeus grew up in a cave, Pinkie in a rock farm. Both also, at some point, gained foster parents to look after them, the cakes for Pinkie, and ...well, Zeus' changes with each telling of the myth. Also, both of them have a constant desire to have companions (Zeus desire being slightly less innocent than Pinkie's). Zeus was also the patron of guests, which Pinkie has in abundance at almost any given time. Lastly, both can be vengeful to the point of lunacy when angered, developing temporary Identity Disorder or... having a raven eat out someone's liver every single day while the victim is chained to the side of a mountain And, finally, Twilight (Hades): Hades. Expelled from olympus and given reign over the underworld as a kind of lacky to his brothers. Twilight, sent to a small town from the capital as a message runner by her princess. Hades' symbol: the Helm of Darkness. Twilight's: the "Big-crown-thingy" of magic. And there's more too, both have highly intelligent creatures working for them (Cerberus and Spike). The aforementioned Helm lets Hades get around without being seen and Twilight's teleportation accomplishes something similar. Both also often act passively, observing events and helping from the sidelines, taking note of what others do rather than interfering. It has officially taken me 2 hours to track down all of this information and double check my knowledge of greek mythos. Still, like I said, I'm bored, so it was time well spent as far as I'm concerned. I've added to my knowledge, found something interesting and somewhat challenging to do, and possibly created a new theory that I could try to make the next "Cupcakes" or "Lesbian Rainbow Dash" conspiracy Yay for greek mythology! Edit: Oh yeah, I also have another one of these theories for Prime 3, so I may possibly grace these forums with another wall o' text sometime soon ![]() "Writing is easy. Re: My Little Pony Friendship is Magic Threadsince I don't want to read the entire thread:
The wife and I want to do up our nursery for the baby in MLP theme, but the only thing we can find are classic MLP's (which doesn't bother us cuz the wife has tons of classics from her own childhood). So where can I get merchandise or nursery type MLP: Friendship is Magic themed items??? None of the baby stores we have gone to carry anything like that (which really surprises me). 's to the finders! "I authorize full use of the Report Button on the MDb Message Boards." |

Re: My Little Pony Friendship is Magic Thread
Derpy was hilarious. 'Nuff said.
It's a girl, then*? Theming it after MLP sounds great! I can't help much, though... * Not that theming a boy's room after MLP would be so weird nowadays, but I wouldn't do it. |

Re: My Little Pony Friendship is Magic Thread
Have you tried the Hasbro website? Aside from there, I have no idea, and good luck, man. ETA:
I agree. Though Big Mac was particularly adorable in this episode, IMO. |

Re: My Little Pony Friendship is Magic Thread
Yes it's a girl. I've been able to find some toys (I should have specified) but we are looking for room borders, quilts, pillows, and other room decor that would be nursery usable. i think we are going to dual them it with winnie the pooh because there are a ton of great 'anime' style baby pooh things that are just adorable. Also, this show is the bomb diggity, I've been watching it here and there when I catch it and enjoy it whole heartedly. Re: My Little Pony Friendship is Magic ThreadYou should've seen me during Derpy's scene. The very idea of something so fan-made becoming canon makes me restore faith in humanity (or at least in Hasbro).
Gimme some official Derpy merchandise! |

Re: My Little Pony Friendship is Magic ThreadNo bloody way! Is this real? Unbelievable! This is insane! Damn... I never dreamed that something like this could ever happen. The amount of time and effort that has to go into this. It just seems so unreal. In times of crisis, weakness cannot survive. But be very careful how you define strength.

Re: My Little Pony Friendship is Magic ThreadThe name: Ponycart, seems unlikely. Especially for a licensed game. It's probably either a fake or a fan-made thing. Either way, I'm still anticipating a well-done RPG of the series. (So many fourth-wall breaking "so-and-so joined your party" jokes

Re: My Little Pony Friendship is Magic Thread
I'm pretty sure it's fan-made. Looks like I forgot to mention that. In times of crisis, weakness cannot survive. But be very careful how you define strength.

Re: My Little Pony Friendship is Magic ThreadI'm no expert at game making so this is something I want to know. From the Alpha you see right there, how much do you think it would take to make a game like that compared to, say, AM2R?
