Okay, I have been reading the posts and here is a list of ideas from other users that I like.
1. I would really see a 3d Kraid to somehow be incorporated as a boss character
2. I would love to see true space jump/screw attack
3. I'd like to see wider, more tactical gunship use (as in drop ship missiles anywhere you want) 4. I'd love to see a large, wide array of missile and beam modules, preferably non-stacking. switching (Prime series) is cool, build-a-beam (Super) is okay, as long as there is a way to customize your beam on the fly (not having to pause and go to the status screen)
5. not-so-wimpy metroids and metroid-hunting missions if they can logically incorporate them
6. more options with the grappling beam, like stealing and possibly using weapons
7. walljumping and shinespark had better appear!
8. a long game would be nice
9. a lot of diverse enemies would rock! 10. a large, nonlinear game with a ton of exploration. I don't want any hints unless I need them. The hint system from Primes 1 and 2 comes to mind, as you could turn them off
11. landing your gunship anywhere it could physically fit would be cool
12. Multiple levels of difficulty (easy, normal, hard)
13. piecing the story together with scan logs was cool in Prime
14. customizable suit traits such as color

While I agree that it was cool, it seems pretty obvious from the trailer that we're going to get all the story we need from cutscenes. gale beam wrote:14. customizable suit traits such as color
That was a joke, actually. I would rather be blasting aliens than deciding whether a blue or green helmet went better with Samus' shoes. Although I suppose it would be pretty cool if they managed to incorporate all of her previous suits without making it seem forced. Although obviously the Fusion Suit would be out of the question.

Yes, but what about the lore that isn't necessarily essential to understand the main plot? Much of what I liked about the scanning in the Prime games was how it revealed all the little back stories, side stories, and enemy pseudo-biology that helped to flesh out the Metroid universe without forcing less hardcore players to need to discover all those little details.
You know those classical pieces that you always hear in cartoons but you don't know the names of? See if you can find a few here.

I've always wanted to incorporate the ship more into exploration gameplay, flying over the surface of the planet and beyond, etc- maybe even to a small moon or asteroid or two. Also using it to shoot missiles to scatter or kill enemies before you land, open up secret caves, scan the terrain for secrets and general information- stuff like that.
Also, having a movable save point would be kind of cool
Day dreaming like this gets sort of depressing for me, because I'm quite certain there's no way these ideas will find there way into the game, especially since the Project M team may not even know about us. ._.

If that's the case, then we should make them aware. Aren't we the largest Metroid fanbase on the web? Seems to me they should listen to us, even though they probably won't. After all, we've been in the business of playing Metroid a lot longer than they've been in the business of making it (Team Ninja, not Nintendo).

Hm... Grapple Steal...
The style of action in this game seems to lend itself to the possibility of Samus stealing an enemy weapon and dual-wielding it. I would say that is a good thing, but I suppose others may disgree.

That, Redwing, Is a great Idea! So you'd grapple a 1 handed SMG from an enemy much like this UAM1 here. http://metroid.wikia.com/wiki/UAM_2_(Metroid_Prime_Hunters)And then use it until it runs out of ammo or when you need to use your grapple again.

I meant the previous suits to be unlockables, not as part of the Other M storyline. Much like you could unlock and play in the Fusion Suit in Metroid Prime even though the Fusion Suit comes into play much further in the Metroid storyline. I like the idea of customizable colors, but that would be kind of weird. Being able to change the Varia or Gravity suit into anything other than the classic orange or purple is kind of blasphemous.
Regarding the grapple, I'd like to be able to throw enemies with it and not just rip off shields and weapons.

I think that's pretty much confirmed by the trailer. Also, it kind of annoyed me that Samus couldn't dual-wield in Prime 3 when I passed by the rack full of GFed SMGs. I mean, all that extra firepower going to waste. What, is Samus too coy to use a standard weapon?

She just realizes she doesn't need it to kick ass. And also, I disagree. Samus with an SMG? Since when has Samus used conventional weapons? That's just wrong. Plus, an SMG wouldn't work on every enemy - like the gold Space Pirates from Super Metroid. I'm pretty sure an SMG isn't as powerful as the Plasma Beam, or else Samus would just bring one along. And also the GF troopers wouldn't get owned all the time.

Yea but they might be around at times when there is enemies that can be killed by it, also It's just temporary and you can throw it away if it aint doing enough damage, remember you could use your arm cannon too.

I want. Possibly towards the beginning of the game. A large segment where you control Flight suit Samus. But with a metal gear sneaking feel. You get seen? You're screwed. It adds some variety and makes things feel fresh to the series whilst keeping to the universe. This would be sorta like the bit at the end of ZM. But harder.

Fail. Anyway, I would like to be able to use other weapons, but how would we aim it? If the Nunchuk had a pointer, it would be awesome, but it doesn't...

That woudn't work out, with guns anyway. We know thanks to Prime 3 that the Nunchuck at least has G-sensors to tell if it has been swung or something, so stealing a melee weapon could work out.

If there was a WiiMotionPlus for the Nunchuk, it would work (remember how the Wiimote's pointer wasn't used in the bow & arrow game), but that is impossible, unfortunately.
