Re: What Else Do You Want to See?I wouldn't mind seeing the Spazer/Wide Beam return in this game, especially if the shooting isn't made to be as accurate as it was in Prime 3.
You know those classical pieces that you always hear in cartoons but you don't know the names of? See if you can find a few here.

Re: What Else Do You Want to See?
What I want to know is why they changed it from 'Spazer Lazer' to 'Wide Beam'???? 'Spazer Lazer' sounded so much cooler. Or was it 'Spazer Beam'? I remember one of the games calling it 'Spazer Lazer'. |

Re: What Else Do You Want to See?
Who said you couldn't just aim them at the same place like all other games? It's just added firepower and perhaps the ability to alternate your firing patterns for more coverage. |

Re: What Else Do You Want to See?But that defeats the whole point of the Wii's realistic aiming. I'd rather play with two Wiimotes than that.

Re: What Else Do You Want to See?What I'd like to see is amazing controls and physics like those of super Metroid, that allow for sequence breaking with basic and advanced tricks.
I'd love to see the return of Crystal Flash and the charge beam + Power bomb combos. The diffusion missiles were rather nifty, I wonder how they'd function without the ice aspect. The beam stacking system from super, but with all the beams being able to turn on. (I know it means no murder beam Charged Ice + Missile/Super Missile = Ice Missile Charged Plasma + Super Missile = Plasma Missile (A missile with a rail gun effect. it impacts the first enemy, but the plasma continues to travel and damage/kill other enemies nearby) Charge Wide/Spazer + Super = Super Seeker Missiles (In a 2D metroid I guess this would be a spread of super missiles) Charged Wave + Super Missile = Phasing Missile (my thought is a missile of pure energy, with wave beam properties, so it's able to pass through walls) I'd also like to see more of Samus' backstory. Most of what we know about her past is from various forms of writing. Is it bad I'd like to see the raid on K-2L and the death of her parents outside of the manga? I'd also like an explanation for Frozen Ridley on BSL, and possibly some live Chozo, even it it's just a flashback. I also wouldn't mind seeing her use the grapple beam offensively. In prime 3 there there were times where I wished I could just whip the enemy into a wall instead of just tearing away their shields, or tugging at their weak points. Samus - She's the only woman I'll ever love.

Re: What Else Do You Want to See?
You see Samus do that in the trailer! |

Re: What Else Do You Want to See?She does? At which point? the action sequences went by too fast for me

Re: What Else Do You Want to See?I thought I remembered a grapple beam in the trailer too, but when I double-checked I didn't see it at all.

Re: What Else Do You Want to See?It looks as if 3D Kraid and True Space Jump/Screw Attack are favored so far...
I'm sorry for all of you who want cut scenes and cinematics in the new Metroid (unfortunately for me they will probably be there) the first three installments were void of any of that. Metroid pioneered the non-linear gameplay and should stay true to that heritage. Keep the story to as few cinematic breaks as possible, preferrably in a prologue/epilogue kinda thing. I think that is one of the reasons video games have become so easy anymore is that players don't have to really play the games, they merely have to interact with a story for it to progress. Besides, as everyone is aware, the Wii is not a graphics powerhouse and all cutscenes would do would be to take up valuable disc space for power ups or areas. I fear Metroid is getting pigeon-holed into what every other sci-fi game has become, eye candy scripted story with little in the way of gameplay innovation. |

Re: What Else Do You Want to See?No one said cutscenes make it linear. I'm currently working on a project with multiple story paths which is rather story-focused and employs both cutscenes and realtime storytelling. It's difficult work (I have a huge whiteboard just devoted to charting story paths), but it's not linear and it still has a storyline... you know, like real life.

Re: What Else Do You Want to See?Cut scenes are challenging for reasons of texturing, I think, although I certainly see developing a physics engine and a set of basic textures and just run with it. And for that matter, most Metroid games actually are fairly linear at their heart: sure, it's possible to do all kinds of sequence breaking in SM, but there are only two bosses that you can get around without glitching (the Crocomire and the Gold Torizo), everybody else needs to be done in the same order, etc.
That said, I would like a more non-linear story with more of a "Choose your own adventure" feel to it, bad endings included. |

Re: What Else Do You Want to See?If they made a Metroid with several drastically different endings, the canon would be down the toilet.

Re: What Else Do You Want to See?Not necessarily - I've seen that situation before. They just have one 'canonical' ending, and several non-canonical endings.
For example, MPH has two endings. In one of them, Samus gets vaporized. Obviously, MP2 follows the ending in which she does not. |

Re: What Else Do You Want to See?Oh... I didn't even know about that ending... I got the good ending!

Re: What Else Do You Want to See?
You mean like Starfox Command? There's about 9 endings in that, and no1 knows which one is canon until they bring the next game out... 9 ENDINGS? C'MON GUYS? WTF? |
