Other Team Ninja GamesI just recently started playing Ninja Gaiden II (after purchasing it a long time ago when it was cheap and never touching it). It's pretty damn fun! I like it better than NG1, which was just overly, insanely difficult for no reason. Not to say NGII is easier, it's just a lot more fun to play. I can see why Nintendo chose Team Ninja to help with Other M -- there's a lot of Metroid-like qualities in these games. Basically, if you take the time to explore, you will usually be rewarded for it. Anyone else play through the NG games? Or any other Team Ninja games?

Re: Other Team Ninja GamesI am not familliar with the Team Ninja games. I have heard of Ninja Gaiden but never played it.
One thing I can't get is how will they do like upgrades and stuff in Other M? I mean its not exactly like prime and not exactly like the 2-D games so how will the upgrades go? |

Re: Other Team Ninja Games
You will find a glowing object and touch it. A message will say "_______ acquired" and explain how to use it. |

Re: Other Team Ninja GamesNice way to be a smart ass Redwing.
That is not what I meant. What I am saying is. (Through what the trailer showed of course because thats the only thing we can go by so far.) It doesn't look like it will have Missile Expansion and Energy tanks everywhere for you to collect. I don't know it is a supposed "2.5D" If you want to call it that. So I don't know how they would really make it work. |

Re: Other Team Ninja GamesWell, it doesn't seem like they showed every aspect of the gameplay in the trailer. At least, I hope that wasn't it. Samus barely even fired her arm cannon, except at close range as a finishing move, and the morph ball, one of the most famous aspects of Metroid, didn't make an appearance in the trailer. So hopefully there will be more to it than that.

Re: Other Team Ninja GamesI'm sure there will be plenty of the powerups we know and love. I do believe the number of missiles displayed on the HUD jumped from 5 to like, 40 or something in the trailer, so I'd imagine there would have to be.

Re: Other Team Ninja GamesWhy wouldn't Other M have powerups?
Also wanted to mention that NG games have the wall-jump down pat. So no worries from me on the walljump front. And most likely it will be SEPARATE from the Screw Attack. |

Re: Other Team Ninja GamesI've only played Ninja Gaiden Dragon Sword on the DS and possibly Dead or Alive some point in the past(which means I barely remember it).
Dragon Sword was a decent action game with a heavy emphasis(duh) on combat(thus, destructive screen scratching). The game gets quite repetative after a while, but by then it's already over. Well what do you know. There are some parts where you have to make small explorations, but it really feels more like a excuse to destroy my DS's screen even more. Though, that's my strictly opinion. So I think Team Ninja should be working mostly on the combat aspects(and add something to the exploration if necesarry) and Nintendo on everything that is Metroid. Oh, one more thing. What really makes me worry about Team Ninja's frustrated libido. Yes, even in this game there's a slight undertones of it(hint. There's a female ninja that gets kidnapped before you can say "Jiggle Physics"). So it's almost miracle inducing that Team Ninja's Samus Aran is more modest than the one from Super Smash Bros. Brawl. Though, I really cannot shake the feeling that Team Ninja is planning something malicious under their desks. Let's hope the best and fear the worst, eh? |

Re: Other Team Ninja Games
I really have no fears at all about this. Yes, we're all quite aware of Team Ninja's reputation for creating teenage girls with spectacularly ginormous mammaries but do you HONESTLY think N's going to let anything like that pass through their white glove policies? Get real. |

Re: Other Team Ninja GamesNot to mention the fact that Itagaki, the main pervert of the Ninja Gaiden team, has been fired. =P

Re: Other Team Ninja Games
Well, Smash Bros. did manage to smuggle couple of fanservice under Nintendo's noses. But no, I wouldn't doubt Nintendo. Still, let's hope I'm just too paranoid. |

Re: Other Team Ninja Games
He wasn't fired, he quit. I'm sorta glad the dude is gone. He was an egotistic asshole who thought he ruled the video game world. The only contribution Team Ninja has made to the world is the Ninja Gaiden and Dead or Alive series. I attempted to play a NG once, but it frustrated me so much that I almost broke my TV, and my game console. Dead or Alive on the other hand, I am a complete whore for with DoA II: Hardcore for the PS2 being my favorite; though I'm sure one of the newer ones would top the list if I owned a 360 because DoA 4 looks sweet. Ninja Gaiden: I'll probably be picking up NG: Sigma after it's out for a while (hopefully the price will go down) so I can learn the art of patience. Not only that but I'm hearing that Ayane will be playable in this one. I'm an Ayane whore, but that may be because my wife cosplay's her *drools* Anyway...DOA: I find that DOA is an awesome fighter when I compare it to other's like it. It's usually pretty smooth and doesn't have too much to distract you (besides falling from ridiculously high objects you get knocked off of I've got some high hopes that Team Ninja will be delivering, ESPECIALLY since Sakamoto will be overseeing the project. The fact that he has helped with the scenarios and script writing for all of those projects (minus MII: RAS I think it was) this should be pretty good. Also hyping me up is the fact that it's being produced in Japan, meaning that the teams can work much closer together then they were able to with Retro. I loved the way Retro did Prime, but I think returning the game to Japan is going to open it up a bit more. "I authorize full use of the Report Button on the MDb Message Boards." |

Re: Other Team Ninja GamesYeah, Itagaki was kind of freaky. He looked like a Yakuza wannabe. But he took with him most of the leads from Team Ninja, so hard to say who all is still working with him. And if they want to make jiggle physics, why not just make a straight up porno game?
You also have to remember though that Itagaki did not create Ninja Gaiden. The series starts off as a crappy beat 'em up but then finds its awesomeness on the NES. There was an interview with the designer a few months back in Nintendo Power. Itagaki brought it to 3D. Though I can't say I have the patience for games like this anymore. I gave up on DMC about 80% of the way through The sleep of Reason produces monsters.

If Itagaki quit, how come this is one of the feature trailers???? http://www.gametrailers.com/video/japan ... iden/56119 I can already imagine a minigame: A model of Zero suit Samus. Just standing there. Controls: tilt Wiimote and nunchuck to jiggle, press against the screen to get "glass" effect, hold A and B (forward and C on nunchuck) and twist to hear screams of agonizing pain. I can feel one of my veins swelling up. I know how to spell GENIOUS nowbaremyarcticblast
