The ONE thing that's bothering me...

The thing is dane, you don't HAVE to have the gravity suit on when you fight mother brain. Like most of her upgrades, they are optional, meaning anything beyond her normal power suit can be taken off/deactivated.

The only reason you need the gravity suit is to walk smoothly through water and a small amount of damage reduction (if I remember correctly). As mentioned by plas durock, the mother brain fight doesn't even utilize the gravity suit damage mechanics, only the varia suit one, meaning that those who preferred the varia suit over the gravity suit could easily turn it off when they were out of the water.

I believe the gravity suit added a 25% reduction to damage in super metroid, while the Varia alone gave 50%

I really liked the Varia suit of metroid zero mission, not only did it increase Samus' defense significantly and added the standard heat resistance, but it also have her immunity to acid.
Hell you even had it end game whether you picked it up or not, since if was a part of the legendary suit.

I have to wonder about Metroid prime's suit though. I've never skipped the varia suit, does the gravity suit in the game do everything the Varia does?

Why is it that in Metroid Fusion, Samus or the X, who BOTH are claimed to have her strongest abilities (Samus at the begining before the infection), does the X or Samus in the begining NOT have the gravity suit.

Because the Varia suit is more iconic to Samus then the gravity suit is. In the grand scheme of things the gravity suit is basically a purple pallet swap of the Varia.

When people think of Samus, they think of her as being in the varia suit. Take my icon for example, when I commissioned the full picture, I asked the artist if they could draw my character wearing Samus' suit, when they did draw it, I was wearing Varia.

This is so true! lol.

Often when gamers, or even non gamers think of Samus (if they know who she is) in the Varia suit, not the other ones.

Yes, I've noticed that she's almost ALWAYS shown in the varia, though her Normal suit has only ever been shown a couple of times, such as Metroid 2, some images of metroid 1, Zero mission, metroid prime 1 after the explosion...

Posibly others little things I don't remember.

It's just something that I'm kinda nitpicking.

Maybe Samus doesn't like using the Gravity suit if she doesn't have to because it gives her a wedgie.
