You have a point. Did they run out of space on the weapons and energy display thing for 18 e-tanks? I've only found them useful in the battle with Ridley, but I suppose another few E-tanks would be reasonable. As for the EPs, 21 energy tanks does seem like a lot of energy tanks for such an easy game, but if it were me, I would've given the game 7 energy tanks in places with EPs, and added in 9 power bombs. That is, if there were power bomb pickups to be had.

They're not the same. If u run out of energy, the RTs act as a backup. But they're still cheesy.

They would have been useful if the game was harder, like Super Zero Mission, or if we have to pick the game that inspired it, Megaman X.

Yeah. But it does the same thing as an energy tank. It gives you health. Basically they'd be more energy tanks if it weren't for the whole dying thing.

I know we always ask for innovation item-wise in Metroid, but if the game had less energy tanks and compensate that with reserve tanks, I'd be ok with it

I never understood it either. I guess they din't have room to put all the energy tanks but they wanted the player to have more. Or maybe they wanted people to freak out and think they're about to die and then have their energy refill. (It's happened to me a couple times.)
