We all know that the only reason Samus can drift away in her monologues so much is because the developers gave her the green light to do so. With a place as out of control as the Bottle Ship, enemies or what-have-you could pop up any time any place so zoning out for whatever reason isn't very far away from suicide. Another thing that makes this so unrealistic. At least in Fusion Samus kept them when in the elevator when you're more than 99% sure nothing's going to strike at you.
The thing that really emphasizes Samus' gender is the Zero Suit scenes with the camera angles
Samus is a warrior, not a living mannequin in a jumpsuit.
Her devotion to a man, Adam, can also be seen as another emphasis but... It's not clear WHY she puts so much faith (enough not to bother asking him to switch the Varia Suit on as soon as she entered the lava chambers of the Pyrosphere and disregard him shooting her) in Adam. We're just told that he was her CO and that she looked up to him but respect is something that's earned, not passed over to someone else through word of mouth.
In times of crisis, weakness cannot survive. But be very careful how you define strength.
