I get what you're saying, But i think you're making too much "Tempest in a teacup" about that... Sometimes people just need a little time to talk nothing before going back on topic...

And that right there is why we have PMs. If you want to go drastically off-topic, take it to PM. If you want to have a one-on-one conversation with a fellow forumite without others getting involved, take it to PM. If you "need a little time to talk nothing before going back on topic," take it to PM; or just talk to someone in real life. But that kind of childishness really only generates pages and pages of off-topic drivel that is annoying to everybody. Also, you shouldn't need any chattiness to get back on-topic, because you shouldn't have been off-topic in the first place.
