As long as their role is to focus on the gameplay and making things look pretty, sure.
As long as Nintendo has full reign over story and art, sure.
As long as Sakamoto is not the actual writer, sure.
He can be a creative director, and tell a writer what he wants, and the writer can then make an actually decent script.

Are we just going to conveniently ignore how awful Ninja Gaiden 3 was?
And how the two games share a lot of the same flaws?
Keep them far, far away please.

I havent really been following Ninja Gaiden 3, but if that's the case, I agree. Stay far away.

Sakamoto needs to go back to whatever he was doing for the series before Other M, because the series consistently produced awesome games up until then. Whatever that setup was, it worked.

I'd rather have Retro Studios back...

I believe that Team Ninja could make an enjoyable Metroid game with proper collaboration and direction. Whether such an idea is true or even possible, I don't really know myself. Oh and... Shouldn't this be in the General Metroid Forums?

Also, aren't they pretty much confirming that the series has been mothballed?

No. Oh nonononononononono! Never again. NEVER again! If it's anything like Other M, I probably won't buy it.

If this is true, and if it happens, I hope Yoshio and Co. will understand why MOM didn't meet their expectations and do something to avoid the bad things that made MOM not so great.

No kidding, if anything Sakamoto probably needs to take MORE control over another collaboration if it happened. After NG3's critical thrashing I was wondering if people shouldn't be sending Sakamoto apology bouquets for making him a scapegoat because it was easy to do. okey wrote:Also, aren't they pretty much confirming that the series has been mothballed?
No, nowhere in Hayashi's comment does it say that.

I agree. Nobody wants a Metroid platformer where birds knock you off the platforms.

I think both parties are at fault here. Sakamoto had writing responsibilities and hand picked the cast. Both of which fell through. That's why he's an easy scapegoat.

Calling Sakamoto a scapegoat means all criticism against him is unfair.

Tell that to Castlevania I think it'd be fine if Team Ninja worked on developing a game and got it published by Nintendo. But it should probably be a new IP. Major Nintendo franchises should probably only be worked on by Nintendo's own dev teams, with a just little bit of collaboration with other companies if absolutely necessary.
