Power Suit mechanics: what is and what is not possible

Postby Naner » 07.05.07 1:24pm

OK, so let's discuss the Power Suit. What do you think is possible and what you think isn't, as well how everything works.

This can help you out in figuring most stuff out:

Power Suit Mechanics, thanks to Ian Shultzaberger for that.

Here is the list of Power Suit upgrades that I think are possible or not:
POSSIBLE:
*Missiles
*Super Missiles
*Ice Beam
*Hi-Jump(with rocket propulsors)
*Varia Suit
*Speed Booster(dangerous)
*Gravity Suit(dangerous)
*Beams(minus Wave and MAYBE Plasma)
*Screw Attack(dangerous)
*Grappling Beam
*Diffusion Missiles
*Power Grip(DUH!)

IMPOSSIBLE:
*Morph Ball and all related to it
*Space Jump
*X-Ray Visor

Of course, there are some exeptions.

If the tech would be advanced enough for all of those other upgrades, why not Wave Beam, Plasma Beam, Morph Ball, Space Jump, and X-Ray Visor? :-P

Well, the beams are so-so possible, but
1- How the heck are you going to fit in the Morph Ball?
2- Not everything is X-Ray sensible.

Alien technology, man. :-p

Besides, the morph ball in the Prime series looks plenty big to fit an Earth woman of average height (you know, like Samus), so I don't see why a young gent like myself couldn't fit.

The morph ball isn't just samus rolling around, though. Otherwise, distance would be considerably reduced (ever try rolling in a tire. And she also wouldn't be able to see where she was going. It's looks, in the Prime series, as though samus's body turns into a sphere energy that's housed in remaining bits of the reformed suit. It can be assumed that she takes on some kind of higher POV because she obviously knows where the morph ball is going.

So I'll sidestep whether or not it's possible in our reality, but there's a bit of info for ya. :D

X-Rays made by aliens are still X-Rays, that only pass through stuff like skin and meat. A hamburger made by aliens is still a hamburger, and a magazine made by aliens is still a magazine(even though most of us wouldn't understand).
A X-Ray scan is called radiography, witch uses the element radio, that passes things like skin and meat, but reflects on things harder, like bones. If it can't pass through bones, I doubt it passes through walls.

If it passes through so much, and it's clearly not an X-ray, it could just be described as one for the benefit of the player, who associates "X-ray" with "goes through shit".

I disagree. Very little seems feasible given current understanding of physics.

...There's something about this on the site somewhere
http://mdb.classicgaming.gamespy.com/fanfic/powersuitmechanics.doc
And think of the X-Ray scope in super as a scan visor for walls :\

I mentioned that on the first post(click on Power Suit Mechanics, in bold).

The fact is that some stuff on the Power Suit aren't as simple as traveling through time. Like the Gravity Suit, even if you are able to create a gravity field projector, it would be hard to survive the pressure of the depths.

And yes, there are confirmed ways of going to the future, even though there's no way of coming back.

We have a word for that. It's called "waiting".

I thought the whole point is that the gravity field manipulates gravity to counteract the pressure.
