Hello all,

I am very pleased to see my technical document being discussed so thoroughly.

1- my contact info is way outdated. E-mail is rufioxiii@yahoo.com and my AIM is thwartedrufio

2- i am a new member here on these forums, and forums arent usually my kind of thing..

3- i am going to rework the document, including some of the ideas that i have read thus far in the thread.

Im going to rewrite it because.. that was almost 6 years ago.. i was 15 at the time.. now i have a bit better understanding of physics, as well as some other ideas i have thought of. If you havent already taken a look at the arm cannon mechanics on metroid database.. please, look. I used alot of the same principles that he used in coming up with his ideas.

ok, now that i have that all done and over with,

As far as Samus's death goes, I think that the missiles are made of anti-matter, which would explain the large explosion in the case of super missiles, and the relatively strong regular missile. Now the reason that matters for her death is, because the Anti-matter would need a very strong magnetic force to keep it from.. well exploding, when her energy ran out, and the magnetism of her suit failed, the anti-matter would spontaneously sublimate and completely destroy all the matter as the anti matter rushed out. hence.. explosion.

When i rewrite this, I will also add in the fusion suit as well as the other suits in the prime series. The phazon suit will be the hardest to describe. any help on that would be greatly appreciated.

Anyways,

Cheers- Ian Shultzaberger :D

Even though I didn't even remember I created this topic so long ago (nearly 2 years ago!), that's awesome! Thanks for stopping by and welcome to the forums!

Another issue I find with the suit.. is how does it repair itself? Does the chozo tech include nano tech? does the suit actually rebuild itself? or does she have to physically repair it after hunts? How does she repair it in the field?

What is it made out of? my best bets for this are titanium alloy, with either steel, aluminum, carbide or mixtures of 3, or all of them, covered in a layer of tungsten.. or maybe only the varia and gravity suits have the tungsten coating, as they are the 2 suits that have good temp resistance.

anyways.. just shooting ideas out, working on the rewrite currently.

Cheers-

Ian :phazon: :metroid:

I would imagine the Powersuit is made out of an Alien substance, presumably flexible and possibly organic.

Entirely possible, but I think that the suit has the separations and looks thick enough to be a stiffer armor and seems to have the thickness associated with a tougher armor much like Master Chief's Mjolnir armor.

It has been referenced that the armor weighs a ton (literally) and at that point.. if it weighs that much.. why not make it a straight up traditional powered armor?

Though.. organic would make sense with the phazon corruption, and would make it persistent like it was in the Prime series..

but I don't know how it could be synthetic as well..

Haha.. maybe I am just way too tired to be thinking this hard right now.. too little sleep. I'll be on later after I fully wake up and I can figure this out for real.
I know this thread was originally set out to figure out what is and isn't possible.. and as of current technology.. it fails horribly.. how the hell would we power it? haha
we don't have anything thats powerful enough to power it for any length of time..

so.. fusion reactor or cold fusion are my ideas.

Orly? I'm pretty sure the only official word we've gotten on weight was quite a bit less than a ton. What was it, 200kg? Which is about 440 pounds. For reference, there are 2000 pounds in a ton.

More precisely, about 2204 pounds in a ton. 1 pound is about 45% of a kilo.

Still, most cars weigh between 1.5 and 2.5 tons, so if the suit were to weigh as much as half a car, I doubt Samus would be able to walk, much less do all her jumping.

He may still have been referencing Master Chief's armor to be a ton. I can't remember if his armor supossedly weighed a ton.

No, he meant the power suit, hence the question of whether it should just be "straight up traditional power armor". We already know Master Chief's armor is.

I think the organic idea for the suit makes the most sence. That would explain why the suit is able to be repaired on the spot without Samus having to actually fix anything. Her suit would just be able to be healed over, like a skin. It also, like you said, explains all the corruption from phazon and the X.

ok.. so if it was lighter.. that could go with a new space age alloy.. the only issue i see is it being too weak to take on a hit from say.. some kind of missile.. or from.. well Ridley. My friend told me that inertial dampening fields could solve that problem.. and some organic space age alloy would fit in great with the chozo.. but.. what about heat? is it organic originally and the ablative or extra armor from the Varia and Gravity suits non-organic?

It would be my belief that the high heat could kill something that is organic.. explaining a non-organic extra..

meh. i dunno.

as we figure things out I will write them in.

and i know how much a ton is, i was thinking more along half a ton, just introducing some humor. hah.

for some reason i was sure it was heavier that 500 lbs. the jumping would be easily accomplished with servos, especially space age servos.. and would also explain why the stresses from speed boost dont rip the armor apart.

if it was too light it wouldnt be dense enough to withstand huge stresses.

unless I am mistaken somewhere in my thought patterns..

Ah, it is biological- found on wikipedia.. cited sources as well.

Samus spent her childhood with her family on the mining planet K-2L. The planet was raided by Space Pirates, who were looking for bounty. The team's leader, Ridley, killed most of the people in Samus's colony, including her parents, and then destroyed the planet. Orphaned, Samus was found by a bird-like alien race known as the Chozo, who brought her to their home planet Zebes. Samus was infused with Chozo DNA, then trained as a warrior and given one of the alien race's artifacts, a suit of armor. It is a biological uniform called the Power Suit, which entwines itself with Samus's mind and body.

also Master Chief's armor weighs about 1200 pounds with him in it.. so.. i tend to overestimate a bit. :weird:

When I was little, I always though Samus just had some AC in those giannt shoulder pads...

There are organisms that thrive in extreme heat, IDK maybe that's part of it...

1.) Samus does not feel "uncomfortable" at any time while wearing her suit. It is like a 2nd skin.
2.) The Varia Suit does not have cooling fans inside of it or some other Earthly/human invention. It makes her suit invulnerable to extreme heat by making the Power Suit's current mechanics more durable. Another "layer" is added, but she does not feel more "weight" because of it. (see rule #1)

The "Power Suit Mechanics" fanfic written by Ian Shultzaberger is a fun little read, but there are some definite incorrect parts to it. (though he does state it's all theory anyway) Like for example, he conjectures that the suit has an automatic "heal the body wearing it" feature inside of it, but we know this is incorrect -- the Power Suit keeps Samus from receiving any and all types of physical damage. Only when it loses all power is when it breaks off, leaving Samus completely vulnerable to anything. Otherwise, Samus remains in 100% perfect condition at all times while in the suit. It would be worthless otherwise.

It's possible Samus perspires and/or excretes other bodily fluids while in the suit, but it's also likely the suit has a self-cooling feature that monitors her body heat at all times. Didn't the manga heavily allude to the Chozo blood inside of her giving her the ability to survive for long periods of time without food and water? Samus's physiology is completely different from that of a normal human, so it makes it even more difficult to break down suit mechanics if you're basing theories off of a normal human wearing it.

Once we ditch the whole idea of it being a (Western) "military Suit that you wear" and adopt a more (Eastern) "unknowable advanced technology that cannot be explained by known scientific means" approach, its supposed "mechanics" are far more interesting and much more easily explained.

There's fan art out there that depict Samus beaten, bloody, on her death bed, essentially -- and even that cosplay done by Jenni Kalliberg, she's bloody and her suit is scratched -- while these are all cool iterations off the idea of Samus, they are all completely incorrect and inaccurate to the real technology of the Suit portrayed in the games. Even that art by Ivan Flores -- though supremely cool, showing her battle worn suit and such -- it's just not accurate to the games. I call this "Western thinking" because usually we are more concerned about showing the ins and outs of how things really work in imaginary works of fiction, whereas with Eastern thinking, they are usually happy with accepting what is unexplained. Some people like the "grittiness" of it when the suit can wear away but unfortunately are unaware that the Suit just plain doesn't work that way.
