Usually, when you get down to little-to-no health, you are on edge throughout the boss fight, and when you breathe that sigh of relief as he goes down for the count, a weight's off your shoulders. And then afterwards, the health that rewards you for killing the boss gives you that little extra bit of confidence and hope making you think "I can make it... just to that next save point!"

That's exactly how I felt when I beat MP2E on hard mode a couple days ago! Dark Samus was so frustrating.

Yeah, I like that too especially when it came to the hunters in MPH. I actually liked facing them at random moments, as it added a somewhat new experience to the game each time I decide to complete a single player run. I also liked the "urgency" created by the hunters' presence in the Alimbic Cluster, which reached a high point when Sylux's Delano 7 flew over the Alimbic Gardens on Alinos. The hunters were constantly impacting the adventure in that game in my opinion.

Random appearances? Ha, there were about 3 rooms in each level that a Hunter could spawn in, and you knew where they'd spawn.

(If you knew only 1 hunter was appearing they WOULD appear in room 1, if there were 2 they'd be in 1 & 2. Never, if there was 1 would it appear in 3. COMPLETELY predictable. Not to mention you just have to stand still, and slowly aim for their head with the imperialist because they have no chance of killing you whatsoever.)

I do know what rooms they would spawn in, but it certainly was not 3 rooms. For example on Alinos, I've had hunter encounters in Combat Hall, High Ground, Processor Core, Echo Hall, and Council Chamber. That's more than 3 rooms for hunter encounters. And you didn't know where they'd be once you left a planet, their set-up on the planets often changes after leaving a planet.

Lazarius wrote:(If you knew only 1 hunter was appearing they WOULD appear in room 1)

Entirely untrue. A hunter could appear in a later room depending on how one explores the planet. They could approach it from the beginning or use a portal to get to a later location. Also, I have faced two hunters in the same area before which breaks your logic on the hunter appearences. Two that I remember are the Echo Hall and the Combat Hall. Hell, I've even heard from someone on another forum that they faced 3 hunters in the same room. That's something even I have not experienced.

I stand corrected, still it'd be cooler if they didn't tell you what planet they were on, and took out the music that told you it was there, then have them sneak up on you.

I'm most euphoric when I get to the room outside the boss-room, and I'm like, "Whoa. A few hours ago I was a wimp with only 99 energy and just a blaster that only shot five feet. Now look at me!"
No point in the series is this exemplified better than when you go from zero suit to gravity suit in Metroid: Zero Mission. I think I like all metroidvanias for that reason.

One of the best parts of any metroid game for me is killing ridley because that is what he gets for killing her parents right in front of her hahaha take that Ridley :D z:). I bet Samus is thinking one of two things 1 why will you not stay dead and 2 REVENGE :D <3
Their is no such thing as intelligence only varying degrees of stupid.

QFT.

Ridley never dies! Or rather, he never stays dead long enough to consider it a death.

You'd think that after being killed and revived so many times, Ridley would want to actually STAY dead for once.

I know I would.
:metroid: = Ultimate Warrior
8) = Ultimate Warrior
Therefore, 8) = :metroid:

Now you know why they call it Metroid.

4 times (only counting times where he's actually seen getting "killed")

*Zero Mission
*Prime 1
*Prime 3 (on Pirate Homeworld)
*Super Metroid

On Norion in Prime 3, Ridley simply fell out of view, which isn't quite a visible death. In Fusion, you fought his X-infected corpse, so that doesn't really count either.

Fusion Ridley seemed pretty corpse-y to me. Besides, knowing the Pirates, they would want to salvage his remains. My best guess is that the Feds captured Ridley's corpse from some Pirates that escaped Zebes and had it sent to BSL.

As to Ridley on Norion, he simply vanished into the pit while Rundus pulled Samus out. No explosion or anything to signify a "death". Ridley probably sneaked back to the Homeworld for recovery afterwards.
