Cool picture, mental. they do look like Chozo, altough I don't think they'd have any city like that... but very cool.

He did massacre a large amount of the goomba population.

While it is official Metroid art it's interesting to note just how different the artwork in the original Metroid manual is when compared to anything after Metroid II.

Image Image

For example, here's Samus in the NES Metroid... The Flying Spaghetti Monster is our lord and saviour! and from Metroid II

It isn't a drastic change but I sometimes wonder what Samus would look like if her suit had developed in the other direction and looked more... retro I guess is the word I'm looking for.

Then there are the Metroids themselves...

Then... I love you Flying Spaghetti Monster.& Now.

EW YUCK HATE OLD METROIDS.

And the old suit looked like the old Cybermen from Doctor Who, I'm glad they changed it. That pic isn't even the worst of it, some of the other art is even stranger.

I'm glad too that they have changed it
the old pictures do have old look.
the style reminds me of the Night Rider and the last 3 episodes of Star Wars with all the buttens switches and other things you shouldn't touch.
while the suit from metroid 2 and later looks more like modern sci-fi

the following picture might be NSFW, but I think it's pretty tame (nipples sticking out through a dress)... http://foreveramber.typepad.com/photos/ ... eckham.jpg

I just found it funny how similar it resembles Samus's Power suit shoulderpads.

Holy crap, I didn't notice that at first. Looking at it a second time, yeah, it does resemble Samus's power suit for the shoulders.

Whoa, that looks so much like the Luminoth! The city around them even resembles Sanctuary Fortress.

I'd say those too closely resemble luminoths not to actually be them or heavily HEAVILY inspired by them.
i'll have to post a comment and find out.

The Official "I spotted Metroid" Thread

Postby sharonlover » 12.10.08 8:19am

This thread's purpose is to reflect where you have seen a Metroid game or reference in real life, such as on TV, in a movie, newspaper article, ect ect. This does not include gaming websites, fan videos, 'official' commercials, official advertisements or conversations with friends. When you see mine below you will have a better understanding of what I mean.

House MD: Season 1 Episode 3 Occam's Razor:

In this episode, we find House playing his GBA and none other then Metroid Zero Mission. Only problem is, the sound coming from the device is from Space Invaders and he talks about the game being about space monkeys and how he has reached level 4, obvious factual mistake on this one.

So what have you?

OMG, I'm gonna watch it NOW!

And for the thread, in Spy Kids 3D, when the spy kid whose name I forgot says "why does every videogame has lava?", the geek replies "In Metroid, it's molten magma".

Then there is Inf's Metroid radio.
