Tying Sylux into the metroid series.

Postby dbmccart » 12.26.08 12:39am

Well I thoughts of a great way to tie Sylux into the Metroid series, seeing that we have little to no info about him other then he hates Samus and the GF. Seeing as this section says that Fanfiction can be submitted I thought I would put this here.

Well Sylux obvious really hates Samus, and he's not just someone hired to kill her. They have a past of some sorts. Being that he uses a stolen GF prototype weapon, power suit, and ship he was most likely in the GF and if that's true he is most likely human.

The way Fusion ended it stands to reason that Nintendo will explain exactly why Adam Malkovich had to die to save Samus. If Sylux was a member of the GF at the time he could have been a friend or even family member of Adam's and blamed Samus for his death. This at least me seems like a possible explanation to why Sylux hates Samus.

It's also possible that he was lied to by the GF, after all they proved in Fusion they aren't as honest as they seem to be. The timeframe is about right, we know he has been following her since before Prime 3 and if I had to say probably since before Metroid.

Sylux is up to par with Samus and that's saying alot considering she has Advanced Chozo Power Armor, although it's not certain what technology was used in the Prototype Power Suit stolen by Sylux. I think it's safe to say that it's not Chozo.

Nintendo has obviously taken an interest into tying him into the game their self, and he is inching his way to becoming a huge antagonist in the Metroid Series. It's for certain that in the next game, we will learn more of Sylux and possibly he will become a full blown Antagonist or maybe even someday an ally.

Well Nintendo is going to do what they are going to do, and we won't have any say in it. Well maybe if they let Retro make the game, then we might be able to convince them to add features to the game, ect.

Well that's pretty much it, what do you guys think? Is my theory stable?

It's now believed Hunters is not actually canon to the series, meaning Sylux doesn't have to fit in at all.
Sylux is up to par with Samus

No. Samus beat him. Gorea beat him. Samus beat Gorea. He is not equal.

well, your background for sylux seems like it would make sense... being an ex-GF soldier gone bad (or just greedy for tech) and all that stuff, as well has tying him to adam. that could be interesting. i've said before i wouldn't mind seeing him come up again if his character was fleshed out. i've also thought that it would be interesting if a post-fusion game had samus ally with characters that were enemies before... probably not the space pirates, but minor enemies like sylux could be cool. going on your theory, he could learn the truth about adam's death or something and learn about the GF's sketchiness and help samus in some way.

also, seeing all the buzz he gets it seems likely that nintendo will give him a bigger part in the series. how big, i don't know, but i wouldn't mind the addition of another major character.

I didn't play Hunters, but from what I know your theory is acceptable. I like the idea of Sylux being a Adam friend/family member, sounds good to me.

I just can't stand a new Samus allie. I don't think it suits her well (nor the game atmosphere), and she already have Adam as an allie.

He did massacre a large amount of the goomba population.

i was thinking of it like one of the "temporary ally against a greater evil" sort of thing. could be done in some interesting way, and i don't feel that samus has many allies (certainly not ones that are major characters). overall though it makes more sense for him to be an enemy.

What if it's revealed that Sylux is a good guy and Samus is evil?

I know Brawl has made idiot mistakes before(Dark Samus IS Samus, only bluier!) but I kinda think he's a robot. A completely sentient android made for killing. Maybe his trophy description really meant something when it called him an 'it'. Think about it, the GF could have made him, but his hate and contempt with life(involved with killing) drove him against his masters. The shock coil figures into this, as he could use the power he siphons.(Maybe that's how he "eats". z8O Ok, that's a little too paranoid)

I don't see why. Hunters was slightly inferior to the other games, and it's plot took elements from Prime 1, but it was still enjoyable. There's no reason to consider it noncanon, and no hard evidence to say it wasn't canon.

I always liked to think of him as Houston, taking his rejection a little too hard

Plus. They're both blue

Someone from Retro or Nintendo made a statement, I believe.

Yeah, everybody knows that, but did you know that Armstrong Houston is actually Rick Astley?

That's cuz I don't think it's real.

It's like people in Phoenix Wright trying to argue that Case 1-5 wasn't canon, and then Apollo Justice happens...

I would personally laugh my ass off if someone decided to make Sylux Samus' long-lost brother or something like that. Laugh, and then be incredibly mad and angry (much like how John Freeman was when Gorden Freeman died).

Anyhoo, right now, I think it might be safe to suppose that Sylux (the character, not the user) is a bounty-hunter snubbed or f-ed over by the G-Feds, in which Samus may have played an unknowing part of.
