Re: Metroid Movie...Then you're an idiot. The two have next to nothing in common, gameplay, atmospherically, story wise, or even thematically.

Re: Metroid Movie...Oh stop giving the teenager his jollies. He obviously don't know how to play the troll game and neither do all y'all.
It is funny to think that the chance of Halo getting a movie is significantly higher than Metroid. Though it's not like the last couple of Halo games were anything but glorified movies... Maybe I should just film my own campy b-movie version of Metroid, with lots of puppets and rubber suits. Kraid will be played by a really fat guy with a thick SHICAAAHGO accent, Mother Brain will be played by Dennis Hopper (because he needs the money), and Ridley will be a puppet voiced by Gilbert Gottfried. It will be the greatest vg movie since the Mario Bros. movie.

Re: Metroid Movie...Dennis Hopper is dead...
And the Halo games are not glorified movies. Look at COD for that, where you constantly lose control of your character for set pieces, etc... But yes, it is sad there is a higher chance at a Halo movie than Metroid. "I am tired of being under the weight of greedy men who don't believe in anything."

Re: Metroid Movie...Why is it funny/sad that Halo is more likely to get at movie than Metroid? It just makes sense. With Halo you've got several characters you could could easily use in a movie. Master Chief has characterization to work with, Cortana would be a natural supporting character to play off Master Chief. The Arbiter could be really interesting doing whatever it is he does. I've never actually played Halo 2, but the point is there's material there to work with. The overall conflict of aliens vs. earth is not exactly hard to work with. What's there to work with in Metroid? A big bucket of nothing. Apart from Samus there are no frequently recurring characters that aren't villains and Samus is barely a character even if you included her characterization from Other M.
If you wanted to make a Metroid movie you'd spend more time making up things that are superficially connected to Metroid than actually adapting anything from the games. Might as well just make some new scifi movie franchise that takes inspiration from Metroid instead. It'd be pretty much the same thing. ![]() |

Re: Metroid Movie...That's fair. I guess my remark was mainly focused on "Metroid is better than Halo, why should Halo get all this attention", but you are right, cinematically, there is more to work with.

Re: Metroid Movie...Lol. You addressed him, so he thought you were talking to him. Yes, we can stop fighting. Next time you may want to actually play a game before you call it a rip off though, just a pro tip.

Re: Metroid Movie...I'm not fighting, but I have to ask, what about Iron Man? The soldiers from StarCraft?
They all wear armor also, what specifically makes MC a rip off? "I am tired of being under the weight of greedy men who don't believe in anything."

Re: Metroid Movie...Someone said it before, but I'll echo their thoughts.
A movie based on Metroid should stay the hell away from hollywood. It should be a movie heavily adapted from the games to appeal to fans and fans only. Trouble will start brewing when they try to make a movie that'll appeal to everyone, or they try to appeal to normal movie goers in general, as the movie will quickly stray from its roots and will eventually just be a cheesy action sci-fi. Oh, and someone is going to have to be sacrificed if the directors think its a good idea for Samus to be involved in a cheesy romance (you know it will happen). "Cut! There are no second chances for actors that fall to the abyss. Await your second casting in the darkness forever." - The Night of Wallachia

Re: Metroid Movie...Then people who don't know what Metroid is will just say it's an Alien clone. A game inspired heavily by a movie should not itself inspire a movie. ![]()

Why not? Don't be pushed by your problems. Be led by your dreams.
