Re: Metroid Movie...Now if there was a Metroid Other M movie, they should have Shaquelle O' Neil as Anthony Higgs.

While reading through the earlier pages of this thread, I came across this post and realized that Christopher Nolan could probably pull off a good Metroid movie. ![]()

So long as Samus doesn't get a really deep voice no one can understand Honestly, I think I could trust Nolan not to kill Metroid, assuming he ever heard of it let alone understand it... ![]() "The world is changing and one does need to choose sides, and sometimes things change so fast that its hard to tell one side from the other." --George Abbot |

Re: Metroid Movie...I was just recalling a story I heard told by a comic writer, who had a producer picking his brain about this upcoming Green Lantern movie the producer was working on (this was before Ryan Reynolds was cast, and possibly back in the mid-2000s when it was still going to be a comedy starring Jack Black). The comic writer said at one point the producer asked him, in complete seriousness: "but does it need to be a ring?"
I realize why Metroid has been optioned several times now, yet never made. I'm sure it gets optioned because its a popular Nintendo property. But then a producer looks over the script and everything, and says to the director: "It's a great concept, I love it, I think it's going to be huge! But there's just one thing...does she have to wear the armor? I mean, what's the point of casting an attractive actress (we're thinking Jessica Alba, by the way) if we don't see her face half the time, and her curves are hidden under some clunky armor? You've gotta think of the demographic we're aiming for, kid...where's the sex appeal? I like this 'Zero Suit' thing, though. Maybe she could just wear that the entire time? Of course, we'd need to open it up a little to show some more skin...expose the mid-rift for sure, maybe show some leg. Our demographic likes to see that sorta thing, ya know? But the property definitely has potential. Just work on it a little more, and this thing'll be huge!" "Isn't that the whole point of playing a game? To feel empowered?" - AVGN

Re: Metroid Movie...It even almost happened in Other M -- Team Ninja tried to push for way more zero suit, but Sakamoto thankfully put the kibosh on that.
Those sorts of scenarios are one reason why I'm into comics rather than film these days. You can accomplish many of the same things as films in comic form, without the extreme time limits of a feature film, budget requirements, or executive meddling. (Not that there isn't plenty of costuming fanservice in comics, but at least if you decide you don't want to go that route, nobody's going to try and twist your arm about it.) Metroid movieIf they were to finally make a Metroid movie, who do you think would make the best director? I really want Christopher Nolan to be the director.

Re: Metroid movieThe guy who directed Pans Labyrinth. Did you see the scenery in that movie? That guy has an awesome imagination!

Re: Metroid movieLuc Besson. He would bring with him a lot of vivid imagery and a strong female character.
Ridley Scott could also do things really well. Especially if the movie is about Samus tracking down/being hunted by a single SA-X on a derelict space ship... ![]() X-Ray Scope Acquired! |

Re: Metroid movieThere is already a thread a lot like this: viewtopic.php?f=18&t=255&hilit=+metroid+movie
But on topic, I don't think we really need a Metroid Movie. I really like the games. Sure --apart of me would be dancing in my chair if I did read of an announcement of a Metroid movie. However I don't really want to chance that... video game movies overall tend to suck. There are only a select few that I like. I'm also worried that if there was a movie it might hurt the fan-base. What if it's horrible...? What if they depict Samus even 'worst' then M:OM? What if it's not even based on the plot of the Metroid games at all? See what I mean. With cut scenes now in almost every game... it's like your watching a movie anyway so I'd say 'no' for now. But it might turn out to be really good movie, if everything is done right. |
