Nintendo Life article

Nintendo Life article wrote:WayForward, the developer behind games such as A Boy and his Blob, Mighty Switch Force: Hyper Drive Edition, and the upcoming 3DS title Adventure Time: Hey Ice King! Why'd You Steal Our Garbage?! has expressed its desire to make a Metroid game.

Being I know pretty much nothing about WayForward, making a real comment isn't something I can really do right now. Let me just say that Forward is the Way Metroid should be going.

They'd make a passable Metroid game, but nothing in their entire catalogue is really "wow", you know? Maybe the first Shantae was, but that was a long time ago. A couple of good games, but no great ones. I'd say the last thing we need is a 'good' Metroid game.

They'd probably fuck up the atmosphere hardcore though. Double Dragon Neon is proof enough of that.

IMO, I think other than Retro, WayForward and Hal are the only 2 studios that are capable of making an official 2D Metroid game worthy of the name. Maybe IntSys, but it's hard to say. Of course it'd have to be 2.5D... ah let's keep dreamin'! :awesome:

I think Wayforward could make a solid game if they had a decent budget and weren't rushed all to hell.

But they've said that if they could work on anything it would be a Lupin the 3rd game, and I'd much rather see that.

They made Shantae and Aliens: Infestation. That's good enough for me. I'd trust'em with Metroid any day.

I'd soooo rather see a Lupin III game as opposed to Adventure Time. -_-;

Aliens: Infestation was rushed. The first 20 minutes were awesome, but then you realize that there's a bunch of airshaft mazes that have no purpose and you don't get more than four marines on your team at any one time. The aliens don't get harder (aside from bosses and the monkeys), so the ship itself remains pretty docile by the end. It also felt like it was missing another planetary mission. Basically, the game shows promise but moreover shows signs of being rushed. You can blame that on Sega.

I haven't played any of the games they've made, but looking at all the crappy movie games on the list, it would be a little concerning. Seems like they haven't had the opportunity to not be rushed, and I'm not sure Metroid is the series to experiment on.

Though I did want to try Aliens: Infestation. It's in my GameFly Q, it just hasn't gotten to the top of the list yet.

I don't know. Not my first choice of developers. Not by a long shot.
