Metroid Movie...

I've read on wikipedia that a metroid movie is going to be released in "08". Can anyone conferm this? Or give other details?

Yeah, that's been going around for a few years. I think it started when Nintendo negotiated the movie rights. But that doesn't mean a whole lot (Marvel first sold the rights to SpiderMan in the late 60's and look how long that took to get to the box office. But we have seen a quite a few video games go to the movies, who knows.

Maybe if Halo the motion picture is a hit, Metroid will go into the works.

Metroid isn't movie-friendly to begin with. The only good cartoon adaptations from games were Pokémon and Kirby, but still so-so.

We're talking about a movie or a cartoon movie here? If it's a person movie, I don't think it'll be too good.

Wikipedia is user-created, so it is not always reliable.

I think part of the trouble with a Metroid movie is - Who will be the other characters? She works alone in the game, and that would make for a pretty quiet movie. The plot would have to involve some outside people and scenerios. Hollywood would just have to figure that out and still keep it 'Metriody' for the fans.


Let's just hope the guy who writes the screenplay isn't the same guy who wrote the Super Mario Bros. movie.


btw: if you get a chance, watch the SMB movie again. The scene that shows NYC mutanting has a pic of the World Trade Center towers burnt up and devastated. Creepy stuff * *

I love the SMB movie. As an adaptiation, it isn’t that great, but as a kids’ Sci-fi Action/Comedy, it rocks. And the various references are pretty cool.

I had heard recently (well, around I think 2004 or 2005) that a Metroid movie was being made and being put into existence. It's been about 2-3 years, so either I heard wrong, or it's a lot harder than it seems (which it probably is, maybe they're still on the script, idk).......
Anyways, I just wanna see if anyone out there knows of any info....
My friends and I just keep talking about it..... y'know, about how who is going to play samus, and what story it's going to be...and about how the WHOLE movie is going to be one long, kick-ass, silent-talkie films, y'know, since samus hasn't been heard talking.......

The rights to make a Metroid movie were supposedly secured by John Woo back in 2004, but since then, no other news has arisen from it.
Whether or not it will actually be made (by him), we have yet to see.
