Favorite boss, favorite boss.... Okay, since I can't choose any single boss, here's a list: #1 - Metroid Prime, both forms. Quite the epic showdown. #2 - Omega Ridley. That fight was fun and challenging, and plus, Ridley is awesome no matter what you-- ....Maybe not always. #3 - Nightmare, Metroid Fusion. I'm not sure what to say. #4 - Dark Samus, Prime 2, final battle. A dimension collapsing around you, and a limited time to escape makes for a great final boss. #5 - Omega Pirate. Words cannot describe how difficult this fight was for me (until I found the Plasma Beam that is, hehe).

As much as I love these 'Favourite thing from Metroid' threads, it's always hard for me to choose because there's so much to choose from! As far as bosses go, well, hmm... I've always enjoyed the Omega Pirate, and I love Phantoon's design. The Rhodegian looks awesome, and I really like the Serris battle. Gah so much to choose from. I suppose, then, my number one favourite boss would have to be the Omega Pirate for now until I remember something even more awesome, but considering how much I adore space pirates I don't think that's going to happen.

Most definitely the Thardus fight in Metroid Prime. I actually used to keep a save around just before the fight so I could fight him again. He's the reason MP needed a "boss attack" mode.

It would be a tie between Kraid and Quadraxis. I almost dropped my GC controller the first time I encountered Quadraxis.

Mines always been Kraid. I'm not sure why, maybe it's because he's such an important villain and yet isn't in very many games. I couldn't tell you how dissapointed I was when he wasn't in Prime 3, I was about 10 when I first played it, and then he wasn't even in Other M. That game had Nightmare, Phantoon, a Queen Metroid, but Kraid was no where to be found. Sometimes I lie awake at night, thinking about Kraid's appearance in Prime 1, and imagine how awesome that fight would have been. Every time I get to Omega Pirate I yell "YOU SHOULD HAVE BEEN KRAID!" and in my rage I'm given the strength to beat him. Maybe someday we'll see him again...

Wanna know why Kraid wasn't in Prime? Here's the story: Long before Metroid Prime was released (read: 3 years before), I was imagining my own Metroid game/story. It was set to take place after Super. It was set to take place on Earth, home planet of the humans. Metroids were set loose on the planet somehow. Samsu crash lands in a forest and has to make her way to Area 51 (I was, like 15 at the time, so give me some slack). The Metroids start reacting to Earth's atmosphere all weird-like and start down an entirely new evolutionary path, similar to RoS. The game was set to be a 2.5D game, with a few full 3D exceptions. The first major 3D exception, aside from piloting Samus through the dogfight in the atmosphere surrounding Earth that gets her crashed, is the first boss fight in the game. That first boss fight is fucking Kraid in a bottle. The Space Pirates were to drop a tiny canister from orbit into the middle of a city. This canister would then crack open and a tiny Kraid would immediately start to grow to full Kraid size right in front of Samus. The battle would be fully 3D and take place in the middle of an intersection surrounded by tall buildings. Samus would "activate" a special function of the Speedbooster that let her use it like a fucking jetpack. This new jetpack would allow her to get on top of the buildings in order to fight Kraid.
Later, I learned about Metroid Prime and was happy. Then I saw that they added Kraid to the game in much the same way that I had imagined. Much later in life, I gained access to a time machine, went back in time to the development of Prime with my notes on my game's idea, showed them to Retro/Nintendo, threatened to sue them, and settled out of court. This caused them to remove Kraid from the game, thus creating this current timeline that we live in.
So, blame me.

You've created a disturbance in the space-time continuum.

...
And you deprived us of monster ass kicking, to boot. Bastard.

That's the coolest fucking thing I've ever read. It does Kraid infinite justice. My master would be quite pleased.

My favorite boss is dark Samus because its a mystic and stronger version of Samus.

I think Samus kicking its ass debunks the "stronger" portion of your sentence

Dark Samus is capable of causing more destruction than Samus, as well as having the ability to fly, but it's simply no match for Samus itself. Samus has got that old B-Dash working for her, therefore Dark Samus loses every encounter. It's really annoying too, DS is like the Buu of the Metroid series. (Supposedly killed ALL THE TIME but comes back just as easily.) They had to kill of Phazon as a whole just to assure us that Dark Samus is dead, and there are still those who are convinced she's alive.

Yeah, that's true. She does have the whole supernatural thing going for her.
I think/hope she's dead dead though. For narrative's sake.
