So would you be fine if it was just third person, but the visor stuff was more 'Dead Space' ish?

I'm actually not familiar with Dead Space. Not even via watching my husband play games that I wouldn't ordinarily touch.

Dead Space uses a lot of augmented reality stuff. You know how Prime draws the map, health, crosshair, etc, on the visor? Picture all of that information being projected into the game world via holograms. It's a really nifty effect.

Maybe this is just me. But for those who played xenoblade will know what I'm talking about. I ld like the next metroid game to look like this game.
As soon as i got to the snow mountain place in xenoblade i immediately thought other m should of been like this. The large world like the first prime game with the 3rd person perspective of other m. It would of worked beautifully. I wish other m was like xenoblade. Its what a 3rd person perspective metroid should be like.

Complete with 256x256 textures? :)

Something along that scope of world would be nice though yeah, just on a modern engine please.

Hehe....That's the first thing that came to my head.......

I want the next Metroid game to look like the Prime games, only more simplistic like Prime 1. I would also like for there to be giant caves that contain illuminating creatures and plants. THAT would be awesome! :awesome:

Doesnt matter about the textures as I was talking about the world I was in. Why do you have to always bring in negative thoughts?
Anyways, the part were you enter the Lava Cave could be like an entry point to Nofair or something.
I pictured my main character to be Samus as I was playing and it works.
So I dont understand their excuse as to why they couldnt do a 3rd perspective for the Prime games.

It's not that they COULDN'T. They just thought it was a lot better in 1st person (Which I heavily agree with. The immersion in Prime was unparalleled).

Also, I was making fun because you said you wanted the next Metroid game to LOOK like it, when the scope of the game's world has little to nothing to do with looks. Sorry if I offended you, though. :(

You'd have to do a few things differently
- Scans
- Beams, Missiles, Energy
- Lock-On/Strafing (This one is probably what made Metroid Prime a FPA)

Tianna wrote:It's still in first person perspective and the playstyle is not one I enjoy or even find very playable. That is my personal opinion and I don't think badly of the games themselves or anyone who likes them. I highly doubt my opinion will change on the Prime series. But it's just that: my opinion. It's just not something I would like to see in upcoming games, since I already missed what was in the Prime games simply due to the play style not being compatible with what I like. I'd hate to miss out on more because of that, you know?

I really didn't mean to instigate an argument on it. ;) I'm an almost 30 year old woman. I kind of got set in my gamer ways in the 90's.

ETA: To the point of the variety argument, I can agree with that. And I'm totally cool with the fact that the series has fans!

I know what you mean...I've never liked first-person shooters as I felt the view was too restricted for exploring the environment.

But Metroid Prime is different. I decided to give it a try and loved it, after getting used to the view. If you're confused, try navigating with the Morph Ball at first.
And it isn't a first-person shooter really...Prime focuses more on exploration than combat.

Play it. You won't regret it...one of the best games for the Gamecube. The art design is amazing and still hold up to many of today's games. Plus, dat music

my name is pronounced (Kor-roo-na A-k-re-ka) waiting for a new metroid game that takes place post-Fusion! Still have not played super metroid, or beaten 1 or 2! XP

I'm currently playing Rayman Origins (Wii version, BTW) and it totally reinforces what I said earlier on this thread. It is the most beautiful 2D platformer ever created. Quite frankly, I love DKCR too, but it's 3D models and rendering looks plain compared to the artistry of Origins.

Michel Ancel said he wants UbiArt Frameworks to become open-source, and I hope it does. A 2D console Metroid NEEDS to be developed using it and the best art directors/designers Nintendo can get.

I agree, Mertoid would be super zazy if it were animated in HD! Fully animated 2d sprites, all Color no jaggies...and lights/glow whenever called for

I would unlike allot of people want to keep the Voice work. I really was happy with Jessica Martin as Samus.

Why use sprites instead of hand drawn art? KOF XIII looks good but something like Rayman or Skullgirls looks a lot smoother.

Is it weird that I want an Wii-U Metroid to use 2d art and a 3ds one to use polygons?
