RUMOR: Epic Games developing Metroid game?

It's in French, but it says Epic Games is developing a Metroid game using Unreal Engine 3 for Wii U. I call bullshit, but it's out there...

While I agree it's almost certainly bullshit, I'd like an Unreal 3 Metroid. Bring the series into the current generation. Hell, bring Nintendo into the current generation PERIOD.

But yeah, probably not true. Are they saying the source for the rumor is that Retro and Epic worked together to make a tech demo for the Wii U? Seems to me if Nintendo were to have a US based third party make a tech demo for the Wii U they'd have them collaborate with a studio that is:

a. US based,
b. familiar with the Wii U, and
c. good at taking advantage of hardware to make good looking stuff.

But hey, maybe the reason for that pairing was so Retro and Epic could team up to make the most realistic bananas you've ever seen in a new Donkey Kong game.

The Crytech engine 3 and Frostbite 2.0 are FAR superior to the Unreal engine 3, so if the rumor is trying to say that Nintendo is trying to give their games juicy graphics, they would have gone with one of those two instead. Especially after Crytech themselves have said the Wii U can run their engine.

I wouldn't mind them being in charge of designing the environments in a Metroid game. They always make detailed and interesting worlds I wish were more flushed out in a game that emphasizes exploration. Bulletstorm is a pretty good example of that. They seemed to have spent a lot of time on that world and yet you weren't supposed to stop and appreciate any of it what with the aforementioned storm of bullets requiring your attention.
