Potential specific reason Samus doesn't wear much? There might be a valid in-universe reason she doesn't wear much. I figure her power suit is specifically molded to her body. There might not be much room for anything else, so she either has to wear something very tight (Zero Suit) or hardly anything at all (every game before Zero Mission came out)

That, and what else is she going to wear under her suit? "Cut! There are no second chances for actors that fall to the abyss. Await your second casting in the darkness forever." - The Night of Wallachia

Re: Potential specific reason Samus doesn't wear much?Another, smaller, suit of armor.
(Serious answer: a flight suit) |

Re: Potential specific reason Samus doesn't wear much?If you read th manga you'll see that Samus can turn her suit on and off at will. It is also form fitting thus only something thin needs to be worn underneath. It's not that she doesn't wear much, her 0suit covers her completely, it's just tight.

Re: Potential specific reason Samus doesn't wear much? So, what would happen if she activated her suit with a baggy coat on? Does it get atomized?

Did you see the part where I said "in-universe" ? Ok look at it again..
This is exactly what I said in my first post. |

Re: Potential specific reason Samus doesn't wear much?
I would imagine it would be the same thing if you wore something tight and heavy over something loose. It would be dreadfully uncomfortable with all that fabric bunched up and forced tightly against your body in weird places. It would likely leave impressions on your skin and probably cut off circulation in places. Unless it activates UNDER the baggy jacket, it probably would shred up and fall off. |

"Where did I put that metroid manga? *crash* DAMN IT! Ah good I found it" ![]() As you can see the Manga agrees with this.
I think, I am just as shocked as most people are when they find out Samus is girl.

Re: Potential specific reason Samus doesn't wear much?
The jacket around the arms must be snug. Thus, the arm cannon, which had no space, tore that part in pieces. |

Re: Potential specific reason Samus doesn't wear much?I was chatting to my boss about this today. Well, arguing. Rather loudly. Basically we were arguing about whether women wore what they did just to appeal to men or because they could. And she asked the question "do your characters that you cosplay wear what they do to appeal to men?" She was trying to make the point that they do.
But Samus is a different case, considering she didn't even appear with men in a game until (pretty much) other m, and other times when she appears in the Zero Suit, it just seems to be her relaxing post-mission/in her ship, or whatever. Having worn an approximation of the Zero Suit myself, I could say it's very practical. In mine, for example, the fabric is light and breathable, with a certain amount of insulation but also fairly cooling. It would just be a physical barrier between Samus and the suit, which also lends itself well to strenuous activity and flexibility- there's a reason that athletes such as runners, swimmers, cyclists and gymnasts wear something quite similar, just to name a few. |

I can easily attest that this statement is not accurate. ![]() |
