I agree. I'd MUCH, MUCH rather see a Metroid Anime that tells the story well and sticks to canon than some Holywood director's take on it. And I'd also prefer subs to dubs, but whatever...The only thing I'd be worried about with a Metroid anime is how they'd draw some things, like the SHOULDERS ASKJLSJKBSAJKNKAG and the Power Suit's waist. Also, I'd want them to give her a reasonable figure. No HUEG ANIME BEWBS LOLOL please...

I agree as well, Anime would portray Metroid better.

I'm inclined to favor animation as well; doing Metroid well in live action means a huge budget, which in turn means lots more creative interference by the people holding the purse strings. Something along the lines of the Star Wars miniseries that Genndy Tartakovsky did would probably be more or less the sweet spot.

I'm also inclined to agree that metroid should be done in animation. Anime based on Manga usually stays close to the source material, well Animes i've watched does.

I'm a bit bored right now, so let's post how I think some famous movie directors would handle Metroid:
Quentin Tarantino's Metroid: The movie is starred by two killers-for-hire: Samus(Uma Thurman) and Sylux(Samuel Motherfucking Jackson). They kill evil space criminals, drive around with Samus's ship and have clever dialogue about hamburgers. Then near the end of the movie, Sylux betrays Samus and shoots her while explaining a pop culture reference joke. Samus survives and goes for revenge. To be concluded in the next movie.
Michael Bay's Metroid: A giant CGI Metroid comes from outer space and attacks our Earth. It threatens the entire human race and destroys New York. Will Smith and Bruce Willis start fighting it. In the movie's climatic ending, they drive over the Metroid with a Hummer. It explodes.
Steven Spielberg's Metroid: An evil space pirate called Ridley attacks Earth with the purpose to destroy our planet. However, Ridley befriends a small human boy, who teaches him how to love. The movie ends when Ridley kills the boy's evil adoptive parents.
David Lynch's Metroid: Three hours of pure mindfuck. Any questions?
Uwe Boll's Metroid: Before the movie even comes out, angry hordes of fans tear Uwe Boll apart and burn the movie reel and all of its copies.

[size=140]Honestly, I don't think anime would do metroid justice.
No, what we need is full on CGI. We've seen Degeneration and *shudder* Advent Children. CGI is just perfect for a sci-fi movie anyway, the artists would have to take shortcuts such as simpler pirates etc if it was anime. Plus, it would probably turn away american movie goers if NOA was smart enough to give it a theatrical release.

Full on CGI?
Oh hello, Uncanny Valley Effect.

I've been gone a while, so I'm probably mistaken, but Emperor Ing? That you?
Uncanny Valley Effect? Don't know what that is, but I'm assuming it's something along the lines of "I like your idea alot, so much so that I'm going to give you money for being so cool."
Also, awesome sig.

...no, I'm not Emperor Ing. And I probably should have explained Uncanny valley better. http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Uncanny_ValleyIt's the biggest problem I had with Final Fantasy: The Spirits Within. The characters looked like porcelain.

I thought I heard about it before, I read that article ages ago, now I know what you mean.
No, I'm talking about something like Advent children but without the crappy art style (lips look so creepy) and lack of plot. Production IG did some good work on Fire Emblem 9 and 10 if we were to want anime styled CGI, and blizzard does amazing realistic CGI.

Of course, Uncanny Valley can be hopped over if they would go for a more stylized look. And I don't think Blizzard's CGI is all realistic, the characters are a bit stylized. I think their style would fit Metroid for sure, though.

I'd would want to have a CGI metroid film rather than Hollywood sh****ng all over it by getting Tom Cruise to play Samus' dad or something... Imagine... That would probably be a form of torture to metroid fans.

Never mind Katie Holmes as Samus...

I'm guessing if they actually did write a movie script for Metroid, it would be horribly botched and not even close to the manga storyline or even the games. They'd probably also make the power suit like a Batman suit, that she keeps in a glass case and "puts on" when she wants, instead of tokusatsu-style, "magical nanobots that are embedded into her body."
Keep it animated. I'd even go as far as saying do it in stylized 3D CG. Maybe even a mix with 2D anime scenes for human characters and dialogue. 2D-3D hybrid anime movies are getting pretty popular nowadays.
