Excume me, um...what? Please clarify this "cryptic" post. I'm going to assume your talking about the Metroid Prime... "Cut! There are no second chances for actors that fall to the abyss. Await your second casting in the darkness forever." - The Night of Wallachia

Re: The Most "Prime": Prime 1 Bosses
What? You don't get it? I mean come on, everyone know Optimus Prime was a great boss. He was such an interesting fight. You really had to think on that battle.
Snark! My favorite boss is easily Metroid Prime's first form.
|

Re: The Most "Prime": Prime 1 Bosses
Of course! Silly me. Truly Optimus Prime is the ultimate of ultimate bosses, he's such a Master of Disguise that I didn't notice him! Despite the boss being epic, awe-inspiring, and a Showdown of the Titans I didn't even notice because he more than meets the eye. Eh hem...anyways. Favorite boss? Either Flaahgra, Ridley or Metroid Prime. Other than those three, I wasn't really that much of a fan of Prime bosses. "Cut! There are no second chances for actors that fall to the abyss. Re: The Most "Prime": Prime 1 BossesMeta Ridley and Prime were both really fun to fight, so yeah I'd probably say either of those.

Re: The Most "Prime": Prime 1 Bossesi died like 4 times vs the omega pirate the first time i played prime.thevery first time i saw it, i was like WHAT THE HELL IS THAT!!!!!!!!!!! and got pwned. the second time i didnt figure out that the x-ray could only see him when he was on a phazon pool, and died while i was figuring out how to fix the "glitch". thethird time i died from the stupid elemental pirates that appear whenhe goes invisible. i was too focused on killing him and didnt realize how much damage they were dealing to me. the fourth time it was the opposite, focused too much on the elemental pirates and not enough on the omega. after that, i finally got my rhythm down and kicked his butt, got the badassery that was the phazon suit and just about had a stroke from the coolness. i went and got the last artifact, and got to the temple, but proceeded to get pwned by ridley because i didnt know he would be there and i forgot to save in my ship, so i had to trek back through the wrecked orpheon. i beat ridley on my second try. almost got owned by his ground form, and beat him. after that, i went into the impact crater.... and got owned by fission metroids trying to get up the GODDAMN phazon core. i ran out of missiles. i went and saved at my ship. AGAIN. went back into the crater with full missiles, saved there. i barely got to the missile refill room halfway up the phazon core with a fission metroid on my ass. waited till it flew off, then made it the rest of the way up. at first when i saw prime hanging from the ceiling, i thought it was a statue, then it dropped to the ground and the mouth thing opened and i was like, HOLY SHIT.proceeded to die against prime exo about 6-7 times. finally beat it, and thought i would get to see an epic death sequence when i dropped down the shaft, only to have prime cores crazy ass appear out of nowhere and scare the shit out of me. i died the first time against core cuz i forgot about the phazon beam and couldnt figure out how to hurt him. and then i had to go up the phazon core AGAIN, kill the exo AGAIN, easier said than done. got to prime, figured out what to do, and won, feeling like a total badass. except i lost the phazon suit, which really pissed me off. the bosses are definately one of the strong points of the prime series

Re: The Most "Prime": Prime 1 BossesMy personal favorites would have to be either Meta-Ridley or Metroid Prime (both forms). They're just so much fun!

Re: The Most "Prime": Prime 1 BossesAt one time, Meta-Ridley was my favorite boss of the game. I remember intentionally not saving after the battle so I could go back and fight him again next time I played. I didn't notice the first time around but the last time I played Prime on Trilogy, Ridley has a new trick--the pounce...yeah, he's a lot bigger than he appears. I lost about 3 energy tanks before I could gauge the difference.
Then again, there was the Omega Pirate who I always considered to be That One Boss, the source of many a rage-quit. Guy's just so damn big! You think he's part-way across the room and he swipes with his massive claws and takes a chunk of your face with him. I couldn't get away quick enough. Last time I fought him was on Trilogy. Dropped a Power Bomb between his legs, taking out all four Phazon plates. I thought it was cool that when he called for the Troopers, I could clearly hear him say "Finish her!" |

Re: The Most "Prime": Prime 1 BossesDear God, you're asking me to pick just one Prime boss? They're all pretty neat in their own way.
Gotta respect Metroid's first 3D boss, the Parasite Queen, but it's not a difficult fight. The Hive Mecha was an interesting, but easy fight. I didn't even realize it was a boss the first time and I missed the scan. The little mini-boss, the Plated Beetle isn't hard either, just learn his pattern (tried killing them with the Plasma? Epic!). The Incinerator Drone was rather annoying, but otherwise unremarkable. The Flaahgra was, in my opinion, the game's first "real" boss. I thoroughly enjoyed battling it. I found it amusing how, upon scanning it, I was like "oh, take out the solar panels, that seems easy!" But when I actually went to do that, I discovered that it wasn't all it was cracked up to be. Even so, once I learned the pattern, it wasn't hard. The next boss, the Sheegoth, seems to have little or no predictability, but his low speed most of the time makes him a rather easy boss. Thardus was a nice challenge as well. I died plenty of times on my first playthrough, mostly due to my awkward control skills. I loved how this boss incorporated several different upgrades that you needed to beat him. The mini-bosses the Chozo Ghosts were a real challenge the first few times. Their phasing in and out of existence made them really hard to track, but my main issue was not knowing their damage threshold (how many hits does it take to kill them?). Once I figured it out, it was much easier (and even easier after acquiring the X-Ray Visor). The Elite Pirates were easy once you learned them, and so was the Phazon Elite. However, the Omega Pirate killed me numerous times. He is ginormous! I finally developed the mentality of "Ok, I don't care whether I'm standing in Phazon, this thing is a bigger threat!" However, due to a crappy sound system, I never heard him say "Finish her"; I never even realized it wasn't a roar until I saw it on Wikitroid. Then, I was like, "Are you freaking serious? That's epic!" And until just now on YouTube, I hadn't heard it myself. Meta Ridley, of course, was my favorite because, obviously, he's RIDLEY! I've always had a soft spot for dragons; it was a shame I had to kill this one. While fighting him randomly one day, I discovered that if you lock-on and dash, but you release the lock-on at a certain time during the dash, Samus almost literally goes flying in the direction you dashed in. Epically useful against Ridley's lunge, and it usually gets you on your feet in time to avoid his tail lash. Then, Metroid Prime came in and ruined my day. I am terrified of spiders, and my first thought was not "Crab!"; it was "HOLY SHIT A SPIDER!" Luckily for me, I managed to get my fear under control enough to kill the darn thing. The Core battle wasn't too hard for me and I think I got throught that the first time I made it that far.
These two points are my exact thoughts on Meta Ridley and the Omega Pirate now that I've heard him say it. "Horse, thou art a creature without equal, for thou flyest without wings and conquerest without sword." --Koran

Re: The Most "Prime": Prime 1 BossesMy favorite boss is probably Thardus, cos I love his music and his battle incorporates a lot of your abilities.
My least favorite though is Omega Pirate, when I first fought him I died 15,000,000,000 times. Then, after all that, on a second playthrough I find he is the easiest boss in the ENTIRE Metroid series. You just need to powerbomb his underside, destroying his plates, then switch to x-ray visor and power beam and begin charging, avoiding pirate fire. When you see him in one of the pools, blast him with a supermissile. I think it only takes three hits like this to take him down, and if the pirates weren't there, you could probably defeat him with no damage. Making this guy the hardest boss when you don't do this, but easiest if you do. SO HATE HIM LIKE I DO!!! Sanctuary Fortress=Best view from a suicide jump ever.

Re: The Most "Prime": Prime 1 BossesWhen playing on a low % run, I found the Omega Pirate the most annoying and Metroid Prime 1st form the most entertaining.
The Omega Pirate is really annoying on low % runs because his beam troopers eat your health like candy, and their lasers are quick and difficult to avoid (Unlike the Omega Pirate's slower attacks). Metroid Prime 2nd form was also ridiculous. Metroid Prime's first form is tough, but she's fair; you see all of her attacks coming, and there's no risk of some random enemy hitting you from behind. Suckers.

Re: The Most "Prime": Prime 1 Bosses
On low percent runs the idea for the Omega Pirate is to shoot him just enough times before he screams loudly in pain when vulnerable to damage. When he screams loudly in pain and flinches additional beam troopers will spawn. |
