Imagine if you had to do a Ridley battle in your ship, with the MP3 style of controlling your ship. So select your thrusters to move, select your weapons to fire.
It would be pretty hard LOL

Re: Things that should be in the next 3d metroid game
We know the shipe from MP3 has a weapone system and a combat mode, but that was just there for show. Just expand on that, hove the combat HUD of the ship function similar to Samus's visor, use the Wii remote to aim and turn using the nunchuk. The ship would move at a constant speed forward, but you could brake and speed up utilizing buttons, somewhat simialar to Star Wars: Rouge Leader. and now Naner will suddenly appear...

Re: Things that should be in the next 3d metroid gameWell, the problem is avoiding making it too much like Starfox. A game where you constantly get in and out of your ship and switch between ground and ship mode is going to feel more like SF than metroid. Metroid has always been about exploration, and the ship-unless used VERY carefully-could ruin that.

Re: Things that should be in the next 3d metroid game
Maybe they should blur the line between cutscene, menu, and ship control. Have Samus' autopilot maneuver the ship around while you shoot with the wiimote and use the buttons in the ship interface to shield and change the autopilot's headings. |

Re: Things that should be in the next 3d metroid gameThat are some amazing idea's for those battle's, Nintendo really should seek out advise from the fans.
on the ship related fight, i thing you should command your ship what to do, instead on doing it yourself. What I mean about that is that you sit in the your ship as in prime 3 and give commands from that perspective like MrBlackDX already said. And about that Ridley fight on a GF spaceship, you could let Samus blow the ship up just change the side's, that the federation is attacking a space pirate frigate (improved Orheon). And that the fight would commence when you want to get out of the space ship (with timer just for fun) and it is around the docking bay (indoor). After you blow it up you would be pursued by some space pirate's that got out and aren't to happy about the fact that you ruined there ship. The frigate can later be used in a similar way the Valhalla was (just with something that makes a bit more sense). And one other thing, I think that Retro used to much cut scene's in prime 3 that revealed something that either you triggered or a weakness from a boss. Cut scene's should be used as few as possible, thought that prime 1 had it just about correct. |

Re: Things that should be in the next 3d metroid gameI do like the idea of bringing back the dash ability. Watching Dark Samus zip back and forth while I'm stuck at a jogging pace was frustrating during the fights.

Re: Things that should be in the next 3d metroid game
Yeah, but she's an evil indestructible phazon monster freakish horrible illegal terrorist alien menace, what do you expect? BTW Admiral Dane: SAMUS, HIT L OR R TO DO A BARREL ROLL!!!!! I like the idea of autopilot and you using the guns though. It would then crash, and the real game would start. |

Re: Things that should be in the next 3d metroid gamegunship dogfights, space pirate secrets, an actually BETTER suit(than varia)

Re: Things that should be in the next 3d metroid game
but they gave you the light and dark suits as well as a varia (i believe it was a varia suit) with PED enhancements. Don't forget the traditional gravity suit as well. You could also play in the fusion suit in Prime 1 if you unlocked it which I thought was a neat little addition. I'm actually not too fond of all the different suits. I enjoy the original design of the Varia and Gravity suits, but that's only because that's what I've known her in for what seems like forever. The addition of the other suits seem awkward, though after a while you do get use to the looks and realize that they gotta try something new, even if it changes her traditional look. I think they've added these suits in a way that would please new fans of the series who enjoy getting 'upgrades' that are visible like that as well as needed in the game, as well as keeping the traditionalists happy by holding that Varia/Gravity suit in the game as well. Re: Things that should be in the next 3d metroid game
What if it were like Wind Waker with a Hunter-class gunship instead of a boat, outer space instead of the ocean, and planets instead of islands? Then when the game becomes a classic, people will bitch "LOL WTF TOO MUCH SPACE TRAVEL". |

Re: Things that should be in the next 3d metroid gameI'm not crazy about having a ship battle element to the game; if I wanted to play a game where I'm controlling a ship and shooting other air- or space-borne enemies, I'd buy one of those games.
Of course, if they basically set it up like Galaga, where Samus' ship goes back and forth at the bottom of the screen, shooting the enemy vessels as they fly into formation and do dive-bombing attacks, that would work. You could have giant metroids for boss galagas, except that if they capture your ship, you die. |

Re: Things that should be in the next 3d metroid game
Sounds like a minigame. |

Re: Things that should be in the next 3d metroid gamei've always like the idea of a little ship action as a beginning (or maybe ending) sequence, but not in the middle of the main adventure.
