Re: Things that should be in the next 3d metroid gameI always thought it would have been cool to have basically an interactive cutscene in MP3 where you had to activate the ship's automatic fighting systems and then do some flight maintenance and input commands (but not actually really fight) as your ship autopilots the battle for you. So, it wouldn't be Star Fox dogfighting; it would have a really classy, more distinct Metroid feel to it. Samus seems like a more hands-off kind of fighter, hence no melee or overly spectacular or brutal moves. She's a class act.

Re: Things that should be in the next 3d metroid gameYou bring up something I would not mind seeing a little bit of: melee fighting. I've heard (from the comics? or that Japanese word some people use that essentially means "comics"?) that the Zebesians were created by the fine folks who gave us the Power Suit: the Chozo. Well, it's not implausible that some of their weapons systems could be compatible with the Power Suit. What if our gal gets a bunch of weapons stolen from her by Space Pirate scientists (some device made to do just that). Then she has to power up in an adventure on one of their planets, early on getting that energy sword thing some pirates used in Prime. It could be activated and deactivated like Missiles are (although with a different button or something), and might be useful against certain enemies.
I don't know. I think it'd be cool, as long as it wasn't her main way of fighting. That's a POWER SUIT. Fall from any height? You live. Step into lava? Your energy goes down but the suit doesn't melt. You can't tell me that bashing something over the head is impossible. |

Re: Things that should be in the next 3d metroid gameActually...I think Samus's suit is compatible with just about any mechanical device. She used Missiles provided by the GFMC in MP3. She used Luminoth weaponry in MP2. The Power Suit assimilates everything.
And where did you hear that pirates were created by the Chozo? That wasn't in the Metroid manga. Metroids were created by the Chozo. The pirates' origin is unknown. ![]()

Re: Things that should be in the next 3d metroid gameEarlier I was thinking that melee combat with the scythe would be awesome in Metroid Prime games. You could use the nunchuk...

Re: Things that should be in the next 3d metroid gameIf you haven't played Portal, watched videos about it, or even heard about it you may not get this, but...
What if they added a similar device to the ASHPD (Aperture Science Handheld Portal Device) upgrade for Samus' arm cannon. It's basically a gun that can shoot 2 "portals" onto a certain surface, which would allow those who walk through one to come out from the other. Example: You shoot one portal onto tha wall and one onto the cieling. You walk through the portal on the wall and come out of the one on the cieling. It would only be usable on certain panels, and it would be that last weapon you would acquire, to make it not cheap. It would integrate many of the physics devices from Portal like how portals effect momentum. It would also be a great new way of puzzle solving, similar to the puzzle solving method used in Portal. Another possible part to the portal arm cannon upgrade scenario is that you get to utilize it in a certain area (Ex: Torvus Bog) after obtaining it and use it fight the boss. But like The Legend of Zelda Twilight Princess' dominion rod, after you defeat the boss or exit the area, the device stops working from some sort of damage. This would allow you to take part in some kind of "side quest" if you will, to restore the functionality of the device. But you would have to piece together what you are spposed to do by yourself like in most Metroid games. It would also be cool if once you restored the device's funtionalty, you could use it to gain extra suit expansions such as energy tanks and missile upgrades to become stronger and allow completion percentages over 100% for which would unlock special perks if you replay the game. |

Re: Things that should be in the next 3d metroid game
So basically, you think it would be cool if they completely ripped off another, well known game? |
|

Re: Things that should be in the next 3d metroid gameIf ANYONE tried to rip off the awesomeness of Portal I would personally find and kill the one responsible. Even if I was shot down before making it, Valve would start dishing out the lawyers and the poor guy who put Portals in Metroid Prime wouldn't stand a chance.
Scratch that, GLaDOS would just make Chell incinerate them. Just like poor companion cube. |

Re: Things that should be in the next 3d metroid game
Pssst... Lawsuits don't solve everything. Valve did not invent portals, nor did it patent them. That said, I will not have Metroid be the laughing stock of gaming by copying such a well-known and respected game as Portal. |

Re: Things that should be in the next 3d metroid game
Yeah, I suppose you're right. But there's still the Emergency Intelligence Incinerator and the rabbid fans to deal with. |

Re: Things that should be in the next 3d metroid gameBesides, Nintendo's allied with other companies before like SEGA (Sonic in Brawl and Mario&Sonic the olympic games, which sucked) and Konami (Snake in Brawl) Why couldn'y they ally with Valve?

Re: Things that should be in the next 3d metroid game
Oh man, this is so ridiculous I find myself struggling to think of an intelligent answer. Y'know what, I think I'm just gonna go with - Because that's stupid. You don't just merge game worlds with other companies. Do note I was also tempted to just post 'Because your mother is a whore.'

Re: Things that should be in the next 3d metroid game
I find it kind of uncanny that I'm reading 60's DC comics about the SuperFriends right now. If you know what I mean. |

Re: Things that should be in the next 3d metroid gameOkay okay. After leaving for a while to wash off the stupid, and without re-reading the comment so I might remain calm, I have a better answer.
1. Half-Life, and by extent Portal, is set in the near future just couple o' years ahead of us. Metroid is set in the distant future, thus they cannot collide the end.

Re: Things that should be in the next 3d metroid gameHmmmm.... Portals in Metroid? Nah. Gravity gun? HECK YES!!!
