Re: Things that should be in the next 3d metroid gameWell WoW has been around for a long time and I think its time for its opposite to come out. A "Sci Fi" WoW if you will. I think they are trying to make a Sci Fi MMO that will try to last long like WoW has.

Re: Things that should be in the next 3d metroid gameWhy would a series that focuses on one character, being alone in alien worlds, with very few of appearances in game of people, why would there by an RPG? For that matter why a MMO? I could only see a dungeon crawler, which is basically the same as the games but you just have to wait longer to attack. I'm not bashing RPGs, but I just can't see Metroid:MMORPG.

Re: Things that should be in the next 3d metroid gameI think we already slammed the discussion of Metroid: RPG. We are now just talking about MMO's in general. Kinda off topic.

Re: Things that should be in the next 3d metroid gameI could see Metroid being improved by RPG influences, such as the additions of a far wider range of weapons in the inventory, the ability to easily manipulate weapon set up (this was even touched upon in Super), and so on. I mean, that's essentially what happened to SotN compared to previous Castlevania games, it took in more RPG element, and that's regarded as the best game in the series.

Re: Things that should be in the next 3d metroid game
You're right. It would be nice to see either a Prime styled loadout where you can choose the four weapons currently equipped, or have different combinations of different stacking beams have different effects. RPG elements don't always mean an RPG though. I mean, TF2 has been taking RPGish elements, and isn't nearly RPGish yet. It's still awesome though. |

Re: Things that should be in the next 3d metroid gameThe thing about RPG's is they usually go in depth. New characters, new perspectives, new stories, new enemies. ect. It usually increases what you know but a whole lot, because RPG's usually have to last a while and if it is online then there is a shit load of stuff.

Re: Things that should be in the next 3d metroid gameRead through this entire thread and wow, there's a lot of detritus in here.
I personally was really excited to see the trailer for M:oM. Love the new suit design (especially the helmet; they finally really got it right) and I think that the gameplay promises to be interesting. I've always figured that on her missions, Samus ends up in a lot of physical contact with enemies and lifeforms she finds - so although I don't think she would necessarily use wrestling moves, it's nice to see some physicality. It makes sense. I really liked the Ridley and Kraid battle ideas put forth by one of the members. Man, your thinking is on point. You've got it right. I personally am not really enthused about a "fly Samus' ship" portion of the game. At best, it's done well but detracts from the exploration part of the game. At worst, it's a shoddy, messily executed piece of code that shouldn't have been there in the first place. I think it would be a completely unnecessary gimmick. Samus is above gimmicks. MMORPG = no. No, dude. Really? What are you thinking? At any rate....a lot of the things that I'd like to see in a 3D metroid seem to be making an appearance in the new game. I've wanted to see a version of the speed booster for a while, and it looks as though it will be making a comeback. There should be a lot of mobility in this game (Samus pulled what looked very similar to a Super Smash Brothers Brawl dodge while shooting at a swarm of flying creatures) which I think I will really like. there are some cool things that I would like to see, but I don't think they'd necessarily fit into a Metroid game. Day/night cycles would be awesome and would add to the ambience of the settings, but since Samus seems to complete missions in about 2 or 3 hours, it wouldn't make that much sense. Weather cycles would be great (unscripted ones) but it'd really just be something cool with no effect on gameplay. (Contrary to what some may think, I think that gameplay-affecting weather effects would be a gimmick in this case and therefore unworthy.) I did like the original post about unscripted enemies with AI - the sneaking scene in Zero Mission with the pirates really caught me off guard. I didn't realize that the pirates could follow me anywhere. This could be really cool in a 3D metroid game, as long as it was in context. Overall, I think Nintendo has it right. For me, there's a longer list of things I don't want in a 3D metroid game than a list of things I do want. I've seen a lot of things in this thread that I probably wouldn't want. Here's hoping that MoM delivers a great game. -lunchmeat

Re: Things that should be in the next 3d metroid gameHere are a list of ideas I think would be interesting.
1 - Zero gravity combat: Samus's boots have always been able to generate artificial gravity at her desire (Celestial Archives and Valhalla are perfect examples of this). However, if Samus was in an area that she really doesn't gravity (such as the waste area in GFS Olympus) then we would control Samus in a Zero G environment while enemies without gravity. 2 - More original environmental hazards: We have seen the basic "don't fall in this liquid" or "don't walk into this gas". But I think it's time for more original hazards. For instance, your in a cave that's on the verge of collapsing, walking is dangerous enough, but certain sections are giving away, if your in combat with an enemy and you shoot these points or even important foundations, then you weaken the cave. Or maybe even an avalanche in a snowy environment. ![]() ![]() Do a barrel roll! |

Re: Things that should be in the next 3d metroid game
Zero G stuff is always cool. And seeing how the aiming system appears to work in MoM, it would be awesome to have collapsable caves like you said. |

Re: Things that should be in the next 3d metroid game1. A bigger variety of enemies. I know there is only so much you can do within a certain amount of space but maybe more enemies would be nice.
2. People probably won't like this idea but its just something to think about. Days and Nights. Where it actually turns dark for nighttime instead of being daytime the whole game. I don't know just think about it. I am on the edge of that idea but hey its something new and might go with the more enemies idea, such as these certain enemies are out during the night and these during the day. It also makes more use of the visors. You actually need them to see like in MP1 in the Phendrana Drifts Space Pirate Facility. |

Re: Things that should be in the next 3d metroid game
You know, that's actually a good idea. I always thought the Metroid franchise had the best vision of an alien planet in all gaming, yet on all those planets its always day! I think Day/night cycles are a good idea, and I'm already looking forward to the new system in L4D2. |
|
Re: Things that should be in the next 3d metroid gameThanks and, there will be da Day and Night system in L4D2? Holy crap thank you Valve!

Re: Things that should be in the next 3d metroid game
I'm not sure if it'll change in the middle of the game. The Director probably chooses day/night when the level starts up. I dont' see why Other M or any Metroid game couldn't do the same. After a certain ammount of time, set it to change all the outside levels to night. Although one of the reasons Metroid doesn't already do this is probably because it's almost always underground. |

Re: Things that should be in the next 3d metroid gameI mean it would add a lot more to the game, more of a feel to the game and the environment. Maybe even add on to the feel of isolation when everything goes dark. New creatures could come out at dark and other stuff.
