Re: Reasons why I don't like HuntersNo, Gorea came from a meteor that hit Alinos.

Re: Reasons why I don't like Hunters
Yup. And the emperor Ing/ing make me remember of them. ![]() |

Re: Reasons why I don't like HuntersThere's really no way to justify Gorea as anything other than some random monster who went on a rampage and got sealed away. The whole game was just a minor footnote in the series, anyway.

Re: Reasons why I don't like HuntersYeah, I agree. But most people just wanted a DS metroid game. And isn't hunters not supposed to be a prime game since it has nothing to do with phazon, or metroids? This seems like it's the only metroid game without the things that it's named after. It's like Zelda without Zelda. |

Re: Reasons why I don't like HuntersIf you take out one specific cutscene from Majora's Mask, that game wouldn't've had Zelda in it at all.

Re: Reasons why I don't like HuntersEven better: Zelda doesn't appear a single time in Link's Awakening. She's only mentioned once.

Re: Reasons why I don't like HuntersAnd Zelda's only mentioned once in OoA and OoS unless you do a link game.
But we should get back to talking about Hunters, eh? ![]() |

Re: Reasons why I don't like HuntersYou know what kinda saddens me? The six hunters from the game could have been okay bosses.
-Weavel and his half-turret would have been an AWESOME boss to fight in the Prime games, since it requires splitting attention between two threats. Plus, it would have been really visceral seeing him jump onto your visor and -Noxus in the 2D games would have been heaven. Put him in a room filled with respawning enemies; that way, we can see him freeze stuff in-combat and utilize it as platforms. Even better would have been filling the room with Space Pirates, turning it into a three way match between Mr. Justice, the pirates, and Samus. -You know the End from MGS 3? Imagine a battle with him where he's invisible, you have a powersuit with x-ray vision, and at times he would randomly transform into a three legged THING and claw your face off. That would have been Trace in Metroid Prime. -Sylux's Delano would have been a great idea to integrate in a 2D game; when it goes on a bombing run, you would jump onto it and attack Sylux. And when he's on the ground, you'd have to be EXTRA careful about traps. -2D games+spider ball+cave with rising and lowering lava level+No gravity suit+Mr. Magmaul. It would have been the sexiest way to reintroduce a beloved powerup EVER. -Kanden... Alright, I got nothing. Still, it's a huge waste that we didn't get to fight these guys as epic bosses, but instead as standard FPS characters. Suckers.

Re: Reasons why I don't like Hunters
I like these ideas, though I don't think there's anything worth doing with Kanden. He was made the first boss Hunter as a sort of tutorial, to give you a taste of what's to come. Yeah, Nintendo should've put more effort into the concept of rival Hunters instead of just siccing Guardians on us non-stop. = Ultimate WarriorTherefore, Now you know why they call it Metroid. --- This is the song, written for the chase scene! Re: Reasons why I don't like HuntersHunters could have been awesome if they had used its most interesting aspect:
THE HUNTERS. How damn hard is it to turn each Hunter into a unique boss? Instead of a recurring NPC? I can only think of one semi interesting fight against another Hunter, and that was Sylux, because it was longer than any of the others and he called in his freaking ship. Dudes a beast. Re: Reasons why I don't like HuntersThis is one thing that really annoyed me with this game. I thought this game had lots of potential, but the Hunters never really did anything. I think bringing back Weavel and Sylux would be a good idea since we still know next to nothing about them, and trace's race, the kriken empire could become a potential new race for Samus to battle. Re: Reasons why I don't like HuntersIn all seriousness the best part of Hunters for me was constantly seeing Spire running around with his head on fire because the dumbass shot the Magmaul too close to him.
Back on topic: I hated how the bosses were repeated. Not only were they repeated but the fights themselves just sucked and having to fight them again about 2 or 3 times if I'm remembering correctly just wasn't fun. I also remember that there were only 95 missles and about 7 energy tanks, thats pretty weak compared to pretty much all other Metroid games. The low variety of creatures also annoyed me. On a side note I would really like to hear some more about Kanden. I thought his back story was pretty interesting. If I'm remembering correctly he was meant to be created into a super soldier of some sort and then escaped from his captives I guess, it would explain his intro as it features a facility exploding behind him most likely the one he escaped from. And he looks awesome as well as his alt form.

Re: Reasons why I don't like Hunters
No, you have low estimates. You have to fight those damn things FOUR times each. It's not even like they were very interesting. A giant phallic tower that shoots lazers and a giant eyeball that bounces around. Gorea was interesting because he was at least different, but he also wasn't very inspiring. I would have preferred a unique boss for each of the rooms.
Yeah, the idea of making them actual bosses isn't too bad, but then I think you'd be fighting six humanoids rather than weird monsters that Metroid is known for (and no, a tower and an orb are NOT weird monsters!). Plus it sort of alters the plot they had set up. Ultimately though, each of the hunters could have used more personality. I don't really think any of them was that interesting to begin with (I guess people like Sylux for the reasons above), but I never really got the feeling they had different personalities; they all just sort of felt like a different bot and they all just play different remixes of the same song. The sleep of Reason produces monsters.

Re: Reasons why I don't like Huntersthat one song was half the bloody music in the game. it's even in the first phase of the final fight iirc

Re: Reasons why I don't like HuntersWhy are we still talking about this 3 YEARS after the game came out!?
I didn't mind it. And I don't think that just because one game in a series has a different style makes it bad. Does it really deserve 3 years of bashing? ![]() |
