Anyone else miss Aether, Tallin IV, Bryyo, etc?

Postby LuigiandMetroidfan20 » 04.01.12 2:09pm

:( I really miss the joy of first discovering those game worlds. Anyone else hope Nintendo brings them back or developes, new, equally as interesting locations for future games taking place shortly after, before, or during the Prime games? :)

Please note: I am not implying there are more Prime series games in developement. I'm just curious about everyone's opinion. :|

Best suicide jump indeed! Glad I wasn't the only one. I also tried forever to land on those platforms that gave off light, but you just go through them :'(

Aye, aye, I did too. Saw the ones with Light Shafts and always thought there must be a way to get over there. It would've been nice if one of the reachable Shafts led you out to one of those platforms, and you could get a great view of Sanctuary from there.. but alas.

Over half my game time was spent sitting in SF, walking through and admiring the whole atmosphere. Sanctuary Fortress is probably my favorite location in any video game I've ever played.

Bryyo was awesome as well. I particularly enjoyed the area you first land in, with the moons (I think?) full of Fuel Gel chained down to the planet. Bryyo Ice, though small, was a wonderful location.. and had probably my favorite track of Corruption (along with Rundas' theme)

I would like to see some of these places revisited, even though I don't see it happening. Aether has always been my favorite, I'd definitely like to see that again. Tallon IV as well, even though it doesn't take my top pick I very much enjoyed the planet as a whole. With the addition of the creature scans, Tallon IV seemed more like a believable planet with a thriving ecosystem moreso than any other.

I don't miss them because I own the games and can just pop the disc into the Wii whenever I want.

I do wish Nintendo would develop more of their worlds like the planets you listed. Genius world design. I can only imagine what Retro would be capable of next gen, with a stronger engine, a more open world, maybe design an entire ecosystem with interactive predator/prey...

Nintendo port a 1st party saga to a non Nintendo console or device?

Good luck.

Expecting Nintendo to do anything right in general would be a hard task.

Nintendo does many things right.

You don't see Sony or Microsoft putting their 1st party franchises on Steam either, do you? How are they supposed to sell consoles if they're giving their heavy hitters to another company? It would ruin Nintendo, not make them better.

Selling games wouldn't ruin Nintendo. The only way it would hurt Nintendo would be if they were competing with Steam. Microsoft wasn't competing in the handheld market so Rare was able to make some DS games. There was even a proposed Halo game for the DS.

If Nintendo used Steam to sell select games to non Nintendo customers then it could encourage those people to buy Nintendo consoles if they liked the games and wanted more. Not unlike the concept of using a free demo or trial to sell a full game.

I really would like to see more developed worlds of the likes of the worlds in the Prime Trilogy. I'm sure many of us have been curious as to what Zebes might be like with Retro's world design up until you realize that it's a lot like Tallon IV already. Getting to explore the worlds tends to be why I replay these games.

Hey, I would sure like to see some new strange worlds. Does't have to be a single game with many planets like Corruption, could be just one planet with a lot to see. Earth already has plenty of strange places and creatures. As far as designing worlds and ecosystems go, the limit is our imagination.

It would certainly be interesting if (future) Earth was used as a location in the Metroid series, with perhaps the space pirates invading? Don't mind me, just hoping for a new Metroid announcement, is all.

Now, Exploring those world was one of my favorite parts of the whole prime series. i loved reading about the worlds and how they're connected with their host species. (Chozo, Luminoth, Reptilicus, etc.) Honestly, i wish that in future games they would include these species again or at least explain the after effects of your actions on their planets. An example is that i'd really like to know what's been happening with Aether since Samus saved the rest of the Luminoth, or on Tallon IV since She destroyed the prime there. i just feel like there isn't quite enough background info about everything as a whole provided. call me crazy...

I've been getting into GMod modding, and I've been thinking of (going through the arduous process of) asking nintendo to make a source engine port.
