What were you expecting of multiplayer after Echoes? Echoes: - Varia Samus - Same as Samus in single player.
- Silver Samus - Ditto.
- Green Samus - Ditto.
- Blue Samus - Ditto.
Hunters: - Samus - Morph Ball - bombs, boost ball, guided charge missiles
- Sylux - Lockjaw - bomb locking, drain energy from opponent to you with Shock Coil
- Weavel - Halfturret - run around slicing people while an automated turret helps out (what's not to like?) - Radius blasts with Battlehammer
- Trace - Triskelion - Invisible when still in Alt-Form mode to stalk your prey, invisible when still when using the Imperialist
- Noxus - Vhosythe - slide around chopping people to bits ('nuff said), freezes enemies with charged Judicator shots
- Spire - Dialanche - ok, almost a duplicate to the vhosythe except you can climb walls with it, set people on fire with charged magmaul shots
- Kanden - Stinglarva - Probably the most agile Alt-Form and it has guided tail-bombs which chase the enemy when close, a charged burst from the Volt Driver can screw up the opponents visor
I think (with the exception of the Vhosythe and Dialanche attack) they are all pretty different. Also: Is there a Hunters thread around here?

The more I read this interview, the more hilarious it gets... There's a point when something is so sophomoric, that it becomes transcendent.
I mean, how can you not laugh at "Why is the jumping in Prime so perfect?" and the response "Because we worked really hard on it"?
It's gold.

Damnit Reconite, I was referring to Hunters. It just seemed to my like clones to me. Just different appearance and maybe a different weapon here and there.

Did you read that list of Echoes - Hunters comparisons that took me 10 minutes to compile?

That's ridiculous, the Hunters are incredibly different. If Hunters did anything right, it was to have pretty good characters.

I still think a Hunters 2 or some variant of it would be cool.

You gotta admit, that is Weavel's colour though. Yeah, I realized I missed out things like the Boost Ball afterwards and was too lazy to change it. IUniverse wrote:I still think a Hunters 2 (whether it has a single player or is completely multiplayer) is a bad idea.
This coming from Metroid Prime: Hunters' biggest fan?

If they made another Hunters game, I would not buy it. I would probably wait until it is $5 and then pick it up. But I really hate the game that much. I wouldn't have even touched it if it didn't have the Metroid label.
Regarding jumping, I think they did a fantastic job with that in Prime, but Echoes could have used more testing. There are far too many holes you have to screw attack into and the screw attack activation of 'press jump 3 times fast' is kind of annoying. Also the bounce factor. Corruption had a much more forgiving Screw Attack. Even so, the level design was fundamentally flawed, and no amount of playtesting would have fixed it. You'd be looking at months of redesign. Should have prototyped it more!

Yeah, the screw attack had some problems. I recall that puzzle in the main Agon room, with the three red magnifying glass things involving the Echoes visor. It took me about 5 tries to get into the little alcove the Energy Tank was in, each time having to climb back up. Not fun. And the god damn bouncing.
But besides that, I didn't notice any real problems.

Yeah I'm pretty sure Stephen Totilo is one of the worst game journalists (if he should even be called that) in the industry. He's the reason I don't go to that site anymore. Joystiq isn't quite as bad, but still has its fair share of shitty reporting. And then you have Destructoid. I actually love Destructoid, because they're not trying to hide their mediocrity. No one on that site is a good writer or reporter, and they don't claim to be. They're just normal gamers like you and me, trying to be game reporters, and I guess I can relate to that more. Sometimes their shit can get REALLY bad, but I still love them for it.

I personally favor gamesradars, myself, because I do love a site that essentially mocks everyone and everything in gaming. The features there are always worth a read, if only for I believe that satire is the closest way to the truth in some cases.

Wow. Harsh.
There's worse opinions on the game out there. I do not see any reason for why the game has received as much hate as it has, even considering its flaws.
But also something that has been discussed numerous times and doesn't get anywhere. If they thought about doing another Hunters game, I think IUniverse has the right idea by expanding on the story line already given though. Increasing the amount of characters in the franchise so quickly, I think, would have a negative impact on it.

I think everyone is being way too harsh when discussing Hunters. Personally, I found nothing so critically wrong with it that made me hate it. Sure, the storyline ain't that great, but it's a spin off, do you expect a full blown Gamecube/Wii title storyline? The only real negative comment I have to say about it is how they made ALL THE BOSSES THE SAME. I loved the addition of new Hunters into the mix, it brought a paranoia type of aspect to the game, because they can pop up at any moment to kill you for your Octoliths, and if you're at low energy when this time comes, you're screwed unless you GTFO. And if your argument is about the lack of Metroids in the game, think about it, everyone likes Other M so far yet there isn't (or, shouldn't be) any Metroids in the game. The Multiplayer mode was fantastic until the hackers and cheat-device abusers took over the Wi-Fi for it, although I still play Hunters Multi-Card with my little brother (because he has the game too).
There, I said it, I liked Hunters, I found nothing so wrong with it that would make me refuse buying a sequel to it.

@reconite The Hunter fans vs the non-hunter fans has been a long standing debate and one that no matter who inputs what, it always ends in a stalemate. You may as well get use to that
