Re: **SPOILER** MP3: Thoughts on the ending
For god-fucking sake. If Nintendo says it's one Samus. It's one Samus. No. Fucking. Ambiguity.

Re: **SPOILER** MP3: Thoughts on the ending
I agree. You are both being ridiculous, and it's messing up the forum environment for the rest of us. Anyways, as someone who wants to write games as a career, I think you should at least give the people who write these games some respect. First of all, it's really hard to give the story of a game enough exposure to make it consistent and at the same time fill up the game with plenty of good gameplay. Secondly, do you even know the writers? If you don't know what they think about the story, it's possible that it makes perfect sense to them and something just got lost in the translation into a game. Thirdly, sometimes people like to refine ideas. Retro was "refining" their models and art style, and you jump on it as inconsistency. I'm assuming here that Retro used a more realistic (imo better) model for Samus in Prime 1, tried to do it all in CG in Prime 2 (and failed), then decided they wanted Samus to be more of a pretty girl (bleh! not Samus!) for Prime 3. They gradually moved from a more realistic to a more stereotypical model to appeal (I'm thinking) to more immature audiences. And they probably were certain that Samus' character, name, suit and struggle would be enough for people to just say, "hey, that's Samus, she looks kind of different but that's her." But no, I guess some fans are too analytical. tl;dr: just read the last three sentences. |

Re: **SPOILER** MP3: Thoughts on the endingGuys, Metroid Prime has always revolved around the Conflict of Samus Vs Dark Samus, and that ship at the end is most defenetly Dark Samus. They wouldn't "end" a series like this with some virtually unknown character from a non-nintendo made metroid game.
Samus Vs Phazon turned into Samus Vs Prime, which turned into Samus Vs Dark... and will stay Samus vs Dark. Think for one second, the two other bonus (100%) endings were both Dark coming back after impossible odds, Prime 3's is the same. Just my two cents, ignore my opinion if you want. ~ The Dark Hunter

Re: **SPOILER** MP3: Thoughts on the endingCouple quick things:
Wow, I never thought I'd agree with IUniverse on something. That's quite a shock. I think we all know my stance on the Zero Suit here, so I'm not gonna bother getting into it, although I will admit I kinda liked his idea that Samus in Prime 2 and 3 aren't the same Samus from Prime 1. While I was never super impressed with the Prime 1 Samus face, I gotta say it was lightyears better than what she's turned into.
You have no idea how right I hope you are, regardless of whether you're being sarcastic with that statement. Anyways, onto the purpose of this thread. I think I said my beef with it waaay back on the first page, but I'll say something else anyways. I honestly feel like there are plotholes and inconsistencies in the series, just as Jesse D said on page 5. So much so that the series itself feels like it is contradicting itself left and right. Almost anything could happen at this point, sadly. As someone else said, it is hard to make the plots link up, but you know what? I find that to be a bit of an excuse. I've seen plenty of games with sequals that kicked ass and kept the story going. *looks over at the awesome Legacy of Kain series* So you know what? I think Nintendo just doesn't give a shit. I hate to agree with IUniverse again, but Samus really does keep changing, as does the art style. Mario doesn't even change style that much (although the humanoid Bowser in Mario 64 DS was odd), why does Samus and the Metroid series feel so inconsistent? Link's explanation is that it's never the same Link, and at least Wind Waker's sequal, Phantom Hourglass, TRIED to keep the artstyle similar. I'd say go with a cross between Super and Fusion for the artstyle and stick with it. That was the best 2-D artstyle (MZM's was horrible as the ZS proves). The 3-D games should have taken more notes. And while on that subject.. what the hell is up with Samus' suit constantly changing, there's no reason for that. Why is her waist getting smaller? Sorry, ranting again. Metroid in general makes me wanna rant something awful, I guess because the series has gone in such a terrible direction the last 7 or 8 years. This is a Hiroshi Post™ signature.

Re: **SPOILER** MP3: Thoughts on the endingYou really don't need to say 'I hate to agree with IUniverse'. I disagree with most of what he says, but if he says something I agree with, I'm not ashamed to back him up.
Oh lawd. Metroid has done nothing but improve since Super Metroid.

Re: **SPOILER** MP3: Thoughts on the endingI definitely think it was Dark Samus (MY FAVORITE METROID CHARACTER EVER) in a ship. She "died" pretty much the same way she "died" in MP2. I have my own personal theory. Dark Samus was in need of immediate transportation away from Samus. Since she controls all things Phazon, couldn't she have just instantaniously absorbed all the phazon on Phaaze and on the Space Pirate ships seen in battle above Phaaze and used it to teleport herself off of Phaaze and to teleport the remaining Phazon far away in the galaxy? And who's to say that the 'Dark Samus' that our huntress fought on Phaaze wasn't an Echo? Seriously, Retro and Nintendo have mislead us countless times in Metroid games. Am I right? They just want us to think Dark Samus is dead so they can suprise us in their next game, and the credits voice saying that all phazon disappeared only helps thir cause.
What I'm hoping for is that an X bound with Dark Samus, which would explain the cancellation of the "Prime" title. Honestly, they'd need a better title than 'Prime 4: Whatever' for a game that includes + This new game would also allow Nintendo/Retro to finally catch up to Fusion (since it's the last game of the series... for now) and follow up with sequels instead of sequels to prequels of Fusion. |

Re: **SPOILER** MP3: Thoughts on the endingNo.
Just no.

Re: **SPOILER** MP3: Thoughts on the endingWhile I am adamant to see Dark Samus and the SA-X again.. I do NOT think it would be a good idea to combine the two ideas. I'd prefer to see Prime stay as an offshoot/side series. There's enough plotholes in the game already without them trying to merge it with post-Fusion.
I'd love to see a Fusion 2, and maybe even a Prime 4, but just... keep them apart. This is a Hiroshi Post™ signature.

Re: **SPOILER** MP3: Thoughts on the endingGeez at this point I'd just like to see a new Metroid game period.

Re: **SPOILER** MP3: Thoughts on the ending
I agree with you Redwing. I just want a new game. I do like the Prime series for being 3-D. But lately I have grown accustomed to the 2-D, I recently went on a spree going through all of the Metroid games. Which I never played before. Any type is fine, even though I prefer 3-D again. |

Re: **SPOILER** MP3: Thoughts on the endingI hope they do something that takes place either post-Fusion or pre-original Metroid. Both would be cool. What wouldn’t be cool however is more Dark Samus. She was dumber then a second coat of paint. Hell, I hope we never have to see any more Phazon related bullshit again.

Re: **SPOILER** MP3: Thoughts on the endingHello, fellow Sith. How is the Dark Side treating you lately?
And. Yes. Post-Fusion, please. |
