You know when you suck when....I was playing MP3 on the trilogy, and I was fighting that thing known as Metroid Hatcher. It took me like 40 minuets to kill it. I used the screw attack to make it open it's mouth, and lost allot of health in that battle. Good thing there was a energy tank in that room. So what was your worst fight?

Re: You know when you suck when....when i ifrst fought mogenar.
When i destroyed one of his orbs, i thought i had to use the hole as a bomb slot... i died without even damaging him. |

Re: You know when you suck when....Way back in the day, either trying to beat the Omega Pirate on hard or the Boost Guardian on hard. Each of those took me hours haha. These days they don't stand much of a chance though, even on hard.

Re: You know when you suck when....All of Metroid Prime 2.
I still haven't beat the game and I've had it since it came out. I'm on the Sanctuary Fortress now, trying to beat whatever guardian the pillbug is. That game is full of absolutely fucked up bosses. It took me 14 tries across two years to beat the Boost Guardian. The last time I played was early 2009, so I'm stuck at the pillbug. MP2 is a NIGHTMARE. Also, welcome aboard Chozo-ancient! Re: You know when you suck when....
Yeah it was a nightmare the first couple times through haha. I loved every second of it though. Recently I played through it on hard... probably my fifth or sixth time playing through the game... I made it all the way to the finally Dark Samus battle before I died. And I had just beat the first game on hard without dying. I was pisssssed haha. |

Re: You know when you suck when....I've always wished Prime 1 had Echoes' difficulty. Its just correct for my skill level.
Contrary to popular belief, Boost Guardian is actually a pushover once you develop a good strategy. I managed to kill him on my second try on my second playthrough. I'll agree with Satch here, however; because Spider Guardian is the worst. You need to fight him both strategically, and with the hands of a surgeon. When somebody tells me he doesn't believe in violence, I punch him in the face to inform him of its existence.

Re: You know when you suck when....I have heard that Boost Guardian is considered one of the most difficult bosses in Echoes, and I'm inclined to agree. He liked to run me down.
Spider Guardian (the pillbug guy) was way fun at first. A boss you don't just blast away, but have to use your smarts to beat? After about the frillionth time dying on him though, I was openly swearing at the screen. I hear he's easier in Trilogy, when you've got the jumpball. I also seemed to have a severe amount of trouble with Emperor Ing (the baddie, not the forum member). Took me like five tries to beat him, then I clubbed Dark Samus 3/4 in two minutes. What. This is slightly embarassing, considering how easy the game was, but I had an absolute dickens of a time beating Rundas. He was harder for me to beat than every other boss in Corruption. For some reason, every time he went hypermode, I would just suddenly die. I couldn't dodge his attack, I couldn't disrupt him, nothing. Another openly-swearing-at-screen moment. Metroids are not pets.

Re: You know when you suck when....
Something I think is hilarious... is that one of the programmers of it admits he couldn't beat it, without enabling debug mode. |

Re: You know when you suck when....
I read that too. xD When BG morphballs and starts to boost around, watch your radar and spacejump anytime he rushes at you. If you're good at multitasking, kill the Inglets for health while you're jumping over BG when he rolls at you. The moment he enters Ing-Shape, feed him a LightBlast at close range. When he turns to goo, ensure you're far away from him before you morph to plant bombs, or he'll catch up to you while you're immobilsed by the morphing animation, and inflict heavy damage. This fight rewards evasion, you know? When somebody tells me he doesn't believe in violence, I punch him in the face to inform him of its existence.

Re: You know when you suck when....Boost Guardian never felt that hard for me. Spider Guardian was difficult, but only because I didn't get any indication as to what the strategy was (I didn't even know there was an opportunity to scan him--I thought the guy was just another pillbug when I saw him rolling around). I had a rough time with the Alpha Blogg, though. But then I found out I was just being too stingy with my missiles, and I just obliterated him with a few Darkbursts.
Of note: the Spider Guardian is a pushover when you have the springball. |

Re: You know when you suck when....I agree with Balkoth with wishing Prime 1 had Echoes difficulty. Though on hard its much more difficult than Prime 2 on normal.
Contrary to many though I never found the Spider Ball Guardian to be that hard. |

Re: You know when you suck when....I loved the fight with Thardus in MP1, he was so easy to kill and that whole thing with the rock was funny.
On another note, I had the worst of luck with Flaagara [I mutilated that If I see stupidity, my head is on the keyboard. Please don't give me keyboard head.

Re: You know when you suck when....The Boost Guardian was the only boss in Prime 2 that took me some time to figure out. In Corruption, I had a heck of a time beating Mogenar and the final Dark Samus on Hyper Mode difficulty. It was a fun challenge, but man did it take long. Has anyone tried Hyper Mode difficulty on the Trilogy version of Echoes? How does it compare to the original hard mode?

Re: You know when you suck when....hyper mode in mph3 was not hard until the very end. it took me about a year to finish the last 3 bosses.

Re: You know when you suck when....For Metroid Prime, the Omega Pirate gave me a hard time when I first battled him. I remember getting to him and losing miserably. I was so frustrated that night that I said, "I'm not playing this game again!" The next morning I played Metroid Prime and beat the Omega Pirate. I found him to be much more difficult in Hard Mode. After all, in Normal Mode, the first time the Omega Pirate turns invisible, it is possible to defeat him with four Super Missiles, making him a complete joke. I know about the Power Bomb technique, too.
Metroid Prime 2: Echoes introduced a few difficult bosses for me, only because Dark Aether harmed you if you stepped outside of the light energy. Recently I played and obliterated the Boost Guardian and Spider Guardian. I'll admit that when I was new to the game, I struggled with these two. I cannot recall if I died against the Spider Guardian, but I know I did against the Boost Guardian. Recently I played Echoes on Hard Mode, saying that "Normal Mode is for pussies." Haha! The Emperor Ing pissed me off. Metroid Prime 3: Corruption was fun to play all over again. Dark Samus is probably only the true boss I hated fighting in Hyper Mode difficulty because I lost so many times on the third part of the battle. When I went back for a second and third round of the Hyper Mode difficultly, I didn't die once. So, at the time, Dark Samus was 12 out of 10 on the difficulty scale, but only before I defeated her and went back to play all over again. |
