I usually save often, but I got too confident that time.
I had a near fail in Prime 3 just a few days ago. You know that room with the giant statue head? I decided to get the other missile expansion in there without the Hazard Sheild. By the time I got out of the Fuel Gel, I was down to 13 energy.
Hazards in the Prime games seem to increase damage the longer you're in it, instead of the steady (albeit rapid) damage of lava and such in the 2D titles.

Honest to God, I couldn't figure out how to beat Kraid in Zero Mission...........
I kept shooting at the holes in his belly thinking "WHY WON'T THIS WORK???!!!"
My friend, Hawk's Eye, had to tell me to shoot his mouth.
It was the most pathetic moment of the month.......... Truly.

For some reason, Kraid is harder than Ridley in NES Metroid.
When somebody tells me he doesn't believe in violence, I punch him in the face to inform him of its existence.

That's an NES game. Everything is possible. in fact, later bosses easier than the firsts still occurs often... TOO MUCH often!
Regret is the only true sin. (Don't remember where I heard that =D)

That, or by the end of the game your reflexes have improved.

When you pass the game a second time and still find some later bosses easier, it can't be reflexes

Nah, you can stand in the acid pit under Ridley's platform and blast him through the floor with the Wave Beam. He can't hit you there, and the acid does very slow damage, especially if you have the Varia suit. You'll just have to remember to retrieve the Ice Beam before going to Tourian. Kraid has no such tricks, and my energy meter was beeping by the time he died.

a. My save frequency depends on: my energy level how easily/well im doing at the moment, like if i'm tearing through everything, im less likely to save. how close the next boss is. i usually save just before bosses. b. at the very least, Prime 3 hazards do. Fuel Gel will start eating a tank every second at it's fastest pace. mitigate it by spamjumping if the fluid is shallow enough
In Metroid, Samus, X, Samus always wins, because beats , who wont attack , who is and absorbs Hacking: Cave Story

I fought Amorbius three times for 30 minutes each before I realized I needed to let him eat me. Similar experience with Chykka and Quadraxis.

Doing a 15% run in ZM, then beating the game to see you got 16% (That wasn't even on hard mode either. Ridley kept killing me on that attempt. Stupid tail swing attack )
