Re: If you could change ONE THING about the Prime series...
Prime 3 didn't have ANY underwater sequences AT ALL. WTF? ![]()

Re: If you could change ONE THING about the Prime series...I was actually very satisfied with the underwater areas of Prime 1. Tallon Overworld, Phendrana Drifts, and Chozo Ruins all had underwater areas, and I'm pretty sure there were quite a few expansions that required the Gravity Suit to get. As for Prime 2, I dreaded going into the submerged temple because those bloggs annoyed the hell out of me, but I don't think I would change that because it did give me a challenge.

Re: If you could change ONE THING about the Prime series...
That brings up a good point. Would you guys change something about the games that you would dread doing in later playthroughs? I wouldn't. If I knew there was an area with enemies that I know are really challenging, I'd dread it, sure, but that's a great feeling. It's like what Samus must feel right as she leaps into a pit of starving Sheegoth infants. "I am tired of being under the weight of greedy men who don't believe in anything."

Re: If you could change ONE THING about the Prime series...Am I the only one that didn't like the Missile speed? I'd totally change that.
I'd make one key for temples instead of three, and add more Metroids. I like the little buggers. ![]() "Of course, missiles are off-limits." -Samus Aran

Re: If you could change ONE THING about the Prime series...
I didn't have an issue with the speed as much as I did how little power missiles had. "I am tired of being under the weight of greedy men who don't believe in anything."

Re: If you could change ONE THING about the Prime series...The missile's power was okay in my opinion.

Re: If you could change ONE THING about the Prime series...Add Kraid as a boss in at least one of them. That is all. xP

Re: If you could change ONE THING about the Prime series...How would Kraid work, tho?
I know he was *planned* to be a boss in MP, but I really don't know how it'd work. "Of course, missiles are off-limits." -Samus Aran

Re: If you could change ONE THING about the Prime series...I would increase the speed and pacing of the game by at least 3x. Maybe more.
Game speed is really the only thing I don't like about the Primes. They are amazing, fantastic games, but I HATE slow gameplay... Slow exploration is ok, but slow action SUCKS. |

Re: If you could change ONE THING about the Prime series...
You would need to scale the game world by 3 times also. I personally don't mind the speed, with the wii controls it felt just right for these games, only the turning speed was lacking. Anyway if you solely increased the speed this would break the game, the whole game would have been designed with the current speed in mind, stuff like the length of passageways, the distances between key areas and such, all planned to create the great pacing found in Prime 1 (the other 2 not so much), this would be lost I think if you didn't alter the game world to match any changes to speed. |

Re: If you could change ONE THING about the Prime series...
Why would they need to scale the game world? Samus can't just power walk or sprint? "I am tired of being under the weight of greedy men who don't believe in anything."

Re: If you could change ONE THING about the Prime series...
I explained it in the same paragraph, increasing the speed will change the pacing of the game to some extent I feel. A way to negate this would be to increase the scale of the game world. I worked on a mod for Wolfenstein back in 2009 and one major complaint about the game was it's speed, the past two games in the series had quite fast movement but this one was pretty slow and large parts of the community didn't like it. Anyway we tried altering the speed to match that of the past games, it was a disaster, the maps were built for the default speed and increasing this speed destroyed the balance, luckily this got picked up during private testing and never got out. While I appreciate that the Prime games aren't Supernatural WW2 FPS games I still feel you have to be very careful and think about the consequences of making drastic changes to core elements of the gameplay. I've just been playing through M:OM again and you can see clearly this game was built with speed in mind from the start. The game uses a lot more long corridors and such which are a rarity in the Prime trilogy but because of the game's speed you can navigate them quickly and they are not an issue. If you ported M:OM world to the Prime games it would take an eternity to navigate. If you ported the Prime world to M:OM you would be constantly hitting obstacles and such, it would be very frustrating. tl:dr A game needs to be designed from the start to incorporate whatever speed it uses and stick to it. |

Re: If you could change ONE THING about the Prime series...
That is so weird. I've played through Prime 3 twice, yet I never realised until now that there's no water in the game. "I'd better wait until Samus kills that Metroid before I shoot her in the back. After all, I don't know if my freeze gun will work on it."

Re: If you could change ONE THING about the Prime series...The one thing that I would change would be to expand Bryyo Ice to allow that recently discovered four armed boss make an in-game appearence. I really don't understand why that did not surface in Corruption as a boss, it's too awesome not to encounter.
