Seems to be a lot of hate for the Metroid Prime Trilogy.I heard about the changes, can someone explain why they went with the PAL versions in some of the changes? And it's the only version of the games I got.. so am I not playing the real original versions? Like I heard they moved around lore places and everything else.

Re: Seems to be a lot of hate for the Metroid Prime Trilogy. It's not that they moved the lore around, (as far as I know, anyways,) its that they replaced the north American release lore with the PAL lore, which was written at a far lower quality.

Really? Some people say it fills a lot of holes the American one left. Anyway, why did they make 2 different versions. Brits speak English just like Americans. |

Re: Seems to be a lot of hate for the Metroid Prime Trilogy.Long before trilogy came out, they were patching up all the sequence breaks in all formats of the game. The biggest differences in the trilogy version were the adding of invisible walls and such to make some of the breaks impossible, or at least make them much more difficult. Getting space jump as soon as you land on tallon is one the biggest examples.

Re: Seems to be a lot of hate for the Metroid Prime Trilogy.I don't see why any hate towards it. I love the Trilogy version. Feels more stable.

Re: Seems to be a lot of hate for the Metroid Prime Trilogy. Some people, myself included, just prefer to play the games how they were meant to. It's nothing against trilogy.

Re: Seems to be a lot of hate for the Metroid Prime Trilogy.I'd like to play the game as it was meant too.. I'm really bummed about the log and all that stuff, and how they added some new enemies in different rooms and new puzzle type things in a few rooms, I'd really like to know why they did that.. with all the PAL stuff.

Re: Seems to be a lot of hate for the Metroid Prime Trilogy. There was some inconsistencies in the Pirate logs. Basically, they removed the part where they talk about Prime "escaping" from where the Pirates supposedly had it contained and were studying it. Since this would imply that Metroid Prime had been removed the Impact Crater (unfortunately making the creation of the Cipher completely moot), it was deleted. However, what it did explain was how Prime is able to shoot weapons like Wave/Ice/Plasma at you...
Go here for the exact details. It makes much more sense for Prime to have been completely contained within the confines of the Impact Crater, and never have escaped, also keeping the Pirates completely unaware of its presence. This would show that the Cipher did have some merit, and that although Phazon did seep into the outer regions and infect Tallon IV, the Cipher was somewhat successful in that it kept Metroid Prime from escaping, and all the Phazon from getting out of the Leviathan seed. It also makes the side quest of collecting all the Chozo Artifacts actually meaningful; because only Samus was able to collect them, and allow herself to enter the Crater and "destroy" Prime once and for all. |

Re: Seems to be a lot of hate for the Metroid Prime Trilogy.I think the motion controls are so superior to the GCN controller when it comes to a shooter-type game that it really feels like that IS the way the game was meant to be played. In fact, when MP3 was being developed, Retro said that that is exactly the way the prime games were best to be played and that they wished those controls were around when they developed MP1 & MP2. Pointing the pointer feels much more natural than bending a joystick in order to aim. It's not just the prime games that I feel that way about, but also Resident Evil 4.

Re: Seems to be a lot of hate for the Metroid Prime Trilogy.
Sorry, opium, just gotta disagree. I much prefer the control style used in the gamecube versions of the games. I can be far faster and accurate with my gamecube controls than with the Wii controls. Forget queen metroid, I'M THE KING!

Re: Seems to be a lot of hate for the Metroid Prime Trilogy. Some people are more adapted to using a thumbstick, but their is no question that in general a Wii Remote is faster and more accurate than a thumbstick, so while some people are more used to the GC controls, there is no question that the Wii controls are more accurate.

Re: Seems to be a lot of hate for the Metroid Prime Trilogy.
I can picture someone being more accurate with the GCN controls because they lock on differently, but faster? Natural speed run times all went up for mp1 & mp2 once the wii controls came out because you could run and gun so much easier. If you get better times on GCN then great, but anyone doing a natural speed run would opt for wii controls for above mentioned reasons. It sounds like you are pretty amazing at the gcn controls, but I bet if you put some time into using the wii controls you would get even better - not just because of run-and-gun but because samus actually turns to aim faster with the pointer than is possible with the joystick. ![]() |
