Two words: Torvus Undertemple. It's one of the few examples that provide a challenge and some rather tough bad guys to fight while still being so calm and peaceful.
And dig that music! (I know, it's remixed Lower Brinstar.)

Re: Favorite Metroid Land DetailsThe music is really nice, gives an amazing atmosphere to that level, probably the main reason why I liked it so much.
Skytown had the best art direction IMO. "Cut! There are no second chances for actors that fall to the abyss. Await your second casting in the darkness forever." - The Night of Wallachia

Re: Favorite Metroid Land Details
I dunno. I almost feel like Retro got carried away with Skytown. I love Steampunk art as much as the next guy, but it really seemed like Retro was trying to slap us in the face with "HAY HAY GUYS ISN'T THIS BETTER THAN DARK AETHER?!? RIGHT?? RIGHT???" I prefer Bryyo, myself. Sanctuary Fortress and Chozo Ruins are also in my top ten. Currently playing: Metroid Prime Trilogy

Re: Favorite Metroid Land DetailsBryyo is awesome, as with Sanctuary Fortress, but I was a bit disappointed with Chozo Ruins. Maybe too much brown or something, I dunno.

Re: Favorite Metroid Land DetailsThere are like 15 "what are your favorite area" topics in this sub-forum, and about another 15 in the classic section. And probably 3 in the MOM section. I should know, because hell I made one of them like 4 years ago.
You should search for these types of topics before you make them.

Re: Favorite Metroid Land Details![]() searched for "favorite" in the Prime section and came up with: Favorite Places: viewtopic.php?f=2&t=5478 Least Favorite Areas in the Prime Games: viewtopic.php?f=2&t=5191 Favorite Parts of Prime Trilogy?: viewtopic.php?f=2&t=4740 So tell me guys what should I do? Merge this thread with one of the others, and turn it into a sticky, or just lock it and sticky one of the other ones? Dark Samus Aran: SEARCH BETTER. |

Re: Favorite Metroid Land DetailsI vote merge, personally.

Re: Favorite Metroid Land DetailsMerge and sticky. We've been having a lot of 'favorite X' duplicates lately (favorite places, favorite bosses, etc.)

Re: Favorite placesWell ANYways...
I have to add SkyTown to my list. It's pretty cool I must say. I also rather like Dark Aether. Some complain of "too much purple and red." I happen to like purple and red. |
|
Re: Favorite placesPurple and red's cool! One of my favourite places is where you first activate a dark portal on Echoes (I can't remember because I'm pretty out of it, but I think it's Agon wastes - the desert bit): it reminds me of a Stargate, but I think the Dark Aether version is more aesthetically pleasing - how the sky seems to swirl. Yeah, it could kill you - but some of the prettiest things are the most deadly. Samus herself, for example...
But the place I think I admire most is the Phendrana Drifts, edging just in front of SkyTown because I love snow but SkyTown will always have a very special place in my heart because I love vast, open spaces too. Anyone else feel their stomach tense up when they fall? Fear of heights IRL translated into a game for the first time for me here. It was significant.Another place I thought was rather nice was that large plateau where you fight Dark Samus the second time. There's a lot of beauty in the Prime games. Basically it breaks down like this for me: Prime 1: * The platforms to the Space Pirate frigate: asteroids and the sight of the planet below. * The landing site on Tallon IV: The rain and the plantlife made it seem so real. * Tallon Overworld: The temple where you need to place the keys to crack the cipher. I keep thinking the window overlooking looks a little like Samus' visor. * Chozo Ruins: The entrance area was very well-designed and showed the Chozo love for nature. * Phendrana Drifts: The area just outside of the Temple - beautiful. Everywhere else was nice, but in a more mechanical and 'dead' way because of the Space Pirates. I share the Chozo love for nature blending with technology rather than butchering it. Prime 2: Fewer here, because it's the only one I haven't completed yet. * The first portal area within Aether and Dark Aether: Very elegant despite part of it being the dark world. * The entrance to the Temple in Torvus Bog: A slight hint towards the halls of the Temple of Heaven in China maybe? * The vista where you fight Dark Samus the second time: even if my nephew freaked out that she could become invisible, even he thought it was cool. Though I kept him from seeing Dark Samus massacre those creatures just before (can't remember if Space Pirates or Ing). This is one I feel I didn't give a fair shot really, I got to the final boss on the gamecube one and my memory card died on me so I felt rather gutted - so I've gone very slowly back up to it on the Trilogy. Prime 3: * Norion: The whole planet was quite nice, it gave me the feeling that the Federation weren't just in the background and it was built above ground - above nature and not through it. * A LOT of Bryyo - the ancient culture and the logs through it told the tragic story very well and the history was almost tangible. The worn statues, the vines growing around the ruins. A reversal of the Chozo Ruins: Nature blending with technology rather than the other way round. * Elysia/SkyTown: An exquisite example of Chozo Technology and culture while they were at their height. It was very well presented, but those little grapple points irritated me - it wouldn't have taken anything from the game to have let us just ride them to the next point. All in all, this one had more attractive areas I thought, but some were overtaken by a macabre atmosphere - that bit where you open the door and the corspe behind it dissolves... I freaked out BIG TIME when I saw that. But I loved that all the same. A strong hint to Super where you hit the predated forms and they fell apart like burnt paper. I can't bring myself to think of Magmoor Caverns, or other similar areas as pretty - I never quite enjoyed hot areas of these games, Super saw to that... I associated it with death and avoided it whenever I could. I'd sooner bathe in Phazon Hats off to the designers though, them and Team Ninja should both have a crack at Metroid 5 - Retro and Team Ninja both brought a lot to these games. Imagine how epic it would be for them to join forces. ![]() |

Re: Favorite placesPrime 1: Pretty much everywhere.
Prime 2: Dark Aether. If Hell ever existed, this would have to be it. Prime 3: Paaze. Enough said. Other M: Sector 2. Gorgeous. ![]() |

Re: Favorite placesmetroid prime 1: magmoor caverns - I really like fire habitats cause I really like warm places lol.
metroid prime 2: Sanctuary Fortress - I love the music, the scenery, the enemies and who could forget the biggest boss ever! quadraxis! metroid prime 3: skytown - i love the beauty of that place. It was so beautiful and peaceful. the scenery was amazing and the little robots all over was a nice touch. The fact that it was built by the chozo makes it even better and the info you can get from the observatory is amazing! If I had to pick out of these three, skytown is definitely my top favorite!
