Yes, 8.5 GB are dual-layer disks(only Brawl until now). So they can put seven or eight GCN games in one dual-layered Wii disk! But... weren't there any dual-layered GCN disks, raising the capacity to around 2.7 GB?
Check your math: 1.5×7=10.5. Although I suppose a number of GCN games may be well under that size, but how many of those are worth playing? For games that used the disc to capacity, you could only fit 3/5 on a Wii optical disc.
No, I don’t think the GCN could do dual-layers.
In any case, the notion that they would release the trilogy on one disc is absolutely ludicrous, unless Prime 3 sales are really in the toilet. And while it’s not a top seller, I am sure retailers would stop stocking it and you would no longer see it except at a discount, which is not the case. It is still full price everywhere. They might make it Player’s Choice and reduce the price IF they release budget Wiimakes of the first two. The whole prospect seems unlikely to me, though it would be nice to see them as well as the other games Cap mentioned. And yes, since Melee has different physics, it would be awesome to see it running online alongside Brawl.

Oh, yes, sorry. Little mental mistake. I meant 5-6.
And I think they should only put in Primes 1 and 2 in a disk. First, the motion-sensing uses a bit more memory. Second, why re-release Prime 3 with Prime 3 controls?

Think of it as like the Metal Gear Solid collection. Only with controller enhancements to the originals. It's putting everything in one spot to make it easier for people to play it all.

It just doesn’t seem consistent with the way Nintendo does business. When that RE guy, Shinji Mikami is it? had all the GCN re-releases because he wanted all games playable on one system, they never bundled any of them... Nintendo and Capcom think in similar ways, I believe.

Wait, the Wii can use double-layered disks? Yet they haven't bothered implementing it till Brawl? So, we've been screwed over for all the earlier Wii games that could have had more content! Eh, whatever.
Speaking of the rerelease, I also think that only Prime 1 & 2 should be remade. Corruption already makes the best use of the Wii's capabilities, but the other two games might greatly benefit from a remake. Retro could enhance the sound and graphics, especially for Prime 2's Dark World, which could use a vivid, Twilight Realm-like restyling of some sorts. They could also expand the worlds, put in more scans, and possibly even tie the games' plots to Metroid 2 a bit better.
You know those classical pieces that you always hear in cartoons but you don't know the names of? See if you can find a few here.

A graphical restyling of previous games is not very likely. If they were to be remade, it would be controls-only. It's simply not worth the resources to change the graphics on a title that's four years old and didn't sell very well anyway.

I think it'd be cool to see Prime re-released with Wii controls, even though I want new 2D Metroid more.

And yet nobody has mentioned Multiplayer possibilities...
Seriously though, online deathmatch (obviously with improvements from the original) would be pretty badass.
Even without dual layer there'd still probably be some extra space, I'm sure multiplayer wouldn't take up too much.
Although in game content edits would be nice, like less powerful spider guardian, and easier boost guardian.
AND ACTUALLY CHALLENGING DARK SAMUS III/IV. SO EASY!

Like Cap Says, I doubt they would really upgrade the games much. They might do a few bloom effects, cutscees, menus, as with the minor dfferences between LoZ:TP on each system, but I highly doubt it would go farther. Adding online to the multiplayer is the only other semi-realistic thing I could see happen. A whole new multiplayer? Possibly, based on a combination of Hunters and MP3:C... I could see that happening.

AMG and Cap are right. You guys are forgetting it's a re-release, not a remake. It'll be like the Super Mario Advance series, not adding much, if at all, to the game. Don't expect much difference from it.

I'd like to see this happen and I would definately buy it if it does.
The controls for MP3 are a big reason I like it so much, and those controls for Prime and Echoes would make my day. However, Echoes doesn't fare too well for me (haven't beaten it, most likely won't) so maybe the controls will entice me to play it fully?

I'm just saying it would seem pointless for them to simply re-release a last gen game with new controls, this isn't Sega.
And heck, this is still just a rumor anyway. A very entertaining and awesome rumor.

They have already done so, though, with LoZ:TP. And Capcom has done it several times very successfully.

Well, Twilight Princess was released simultaneously for the GC and the Wii, so the case is bit different. They released it for the Game Cube because the Wii was young and had few owners. They released it for the Wii because of the motion-sensing(swords and fishing rods) and Miyamoto would have been killed if they hadn't.

Wrong on all counts. Lord Darth Naner wrote:Well, Twilight Princess was released simultaneously for the GC and the Wii, so the case is bit different.
Actually, the Wii version was released first. Lord Darth Naner wrote:They released it for the Game Cube because the Wii was young and had few owners.
They released it for the GameCube because that was the system it was developed for, and they had promised repeatedly not to move it to Wii and cancel the GameCube version. Lord Darth Naner wrote:They released it for the Wii because of the motion-sensing(swords and fishing rods) and Miyamoto would have been killed if they hadn't.
No, they released it for Wii so that they would have a game at launch from a major 1st-party franchise( since Mario, Smash, and Metroid were not ready), in other words, a system-seller. At the time, no one had any idea that the Wii and plain old Wii Sports would be so successful.
