Bring on the Choogle smiley.
...Then make an animated Sensemove smiley. Or I will, as soon as I get on a real computer.
Image The only thing I could find that connects with El Pollo Loco is a fried chicken restaurant chain. This is a doll of its mascot. Your guess is as good as mine, dude. :/

You mean this? Image I'm not satisfied with it though. He might need a little more work.

I think a a full body choogle would be nicer, have him standing an angle to the left, with his cold eyes of death staring out at you, with his cute little tail wagging in anticipation :phazon:

Well, thanks for your opinion, but A.) you're in the wrong thread, and B.) It's not going to happen b/c that would make it too large. I'm not going to make this thing go over 32 pix in height. Large smileys get too ridiculous.

Now let's PLEASE get back on topic, k?

Off-topic: Choogle came about because, pre-game, we were debating what the little puffball most looked like. I said a cross between the Moogles and Chocobos from Final Fantasy. IE was the one who coined the actual term Choogle, as I recall.
El Pollo Loco came about when we were debating what the fuzzy slam-tackling lizard looked like. (For the record, I said Ridley and an emu had a one night stand.) Somewhere in the mess of all that, someone said mutant chicken, a Google search lead to the restaurant chain of El Pollo Loco, and the rest is now history.

On-topic:

Oh, what didn't I love about this game? (Well, a couple things, but they were few and far between.) I loved...
--The graphics, and how virtually seamless it all was. It really felt like playing a movie.
--The gameplay. I always knew Samus was a ninja. This was so easy to play. I don't know where all the complaints about first person keep coming from, after a quick learning curve (purple blob was tricky, but Reos in the Systems Managment was cake) I was pro, and it felt really good and intuitive. Easy to play, but still challenging and an absolute blast.
--Believe it or not, the story. Not nearly as horrible as everyone said. Not earth-shattering, but still engaging, especially for a scifi game that has never really had a story. Also: I love that it made the Metroidverse feel more like a real, concrete place, with a military and intrigue and lots and lots of people. Not just a faceless thing giving lines, and then leaving you on some random hunk of rock to run about. The story did have some chunks of wtf, and some unfinished plot lines, and things you didn't catch until the second run through (I'd recommend watching the theatre mode, even if you didn't like the story), but it was good.
Most of all, it did exactly what it said it'd do from the start, and really gave us Samus as she is. It made her real, more than anything else, more than the manga, more than Fusion, all that. She is human, and badass, and messed up and awesome, all at once. She's got a past, and friends, and flaws, and reasons for what she does now. This game made me love Samus (in a totally platonic way) as much as or more than any other game so far.
--Non-platonically, I totally love Adam now. And I want to be besties with Higgs.
--Believe it or not part two, the voices. Yes, there were some chunks that were off, and some monologues that made me cringe, but as a whole I was pleasantly surprised, and the voices mostly matched the lipsynching and mostly fit and worked with the story. I don't mind "girly" Samus anymore (care to note how girly Ms. Aran is, with her penchant for heels. And *spoiler* that badass jacket at the end, I want it), I have always loved how Adam and Higgs sound, and the two lines Maurice and KG had were pretty perfect. I will, however, always mock James, because he sounds like a Ninja Turtle to me.

So yes, overall, I rather liked this game.

I figure if we're going to have a complaints thread, we need a 'hey! that was really awesome!' thread.

Here's a few of mine for starters:

Fan service through return of old enemies. Oh yeah, Ridley looks badass!

Sense move for instant charge is awesome. It really shows how you can own the game by mastering a few basic skills.

Remember that spot where you go through the ventilation shaft and see the outside of the spaceship? Oh yeah! That was really cool! Small picturesque touches like this are really cool. And each room changes depending on the side you entered through!

Morph ball puzzles! Some of these felt like they came right out of Metroid Prime!

The Overblast and Lethal Strikes are pretty awesome. You really feel like a badass when pulling these off.

I also still like the missile reload animation. Samus is a walking tank!

I like essentially everything about it, except the forced FPVs, and the mostly non-memorable music.

The thngs I liked the MOST were definitely the bosses from previous games, the way the combat operates in 3D space, the amazing cinematics, and most of the plot and voice acting overall.

-level design, outside of a few quirks, was very well done

-Though there were really no secret places to explore (like in Super Metroid, Fusion, and Echoes), I liked how nearly everywhere was chock-full of nooks and crannies.

-Anthony Higgs (or as some have called him, Manthony Higgs, or Anthony fucking Higgs). He really is well done as a character in a way that everyone else in Other M and Corruption are not.

-I too loved the Missile Reload.

-I kinda liked the recoil a charge shot gave Samus. It sometimes got in the way of platforming, but it really made the shot feel like it had some weight to it.

-How some paths and nooks would go all over the room/map, getting to the point where I wasn't even sure if I could get BACK the way I came (this most notably came with the acquiring of the Diffusion beam, a segment i LOVED).

-every cutscene in this game has some of the most gorgeous graphics I've ever seen put out onto the Wii.

Everything that's been said already, I like. I think I may be one of the few people that actually likes Samus' English VA. Lol, she sounds.. well, gentle and pretty. Samus doesn't actually look all bulked up like she did in that single picture you got in one of the Fusion Japanese endings and unlocked in the Zero Mission gallery when you linked together both games. If she looked that bulky without the armor in-game, then Jessica Martin's voice probably wouldn't fit Samus at all. The pixel hunts were annoying, though.

One other thing I forgot to mention - the level designs are fantastic and visually, they make the place look REAL. There are FAR too many 3D games that simply put you in a big box, but there are no levels in Other M that actually feel like you're in a giant polygon. The walls have so much texture to them - they're not flat, but they have interesting buttresses and supports hanging off of them. There are also usually lots of things just lying around the floor of a room. Everything about the levels is just so interesting. It makes the place seem almost like it's real.

Aside from most of the things already mentioned here, I LOVED the ambience. Including the music. Yes there weren't many memorable songs, but in context they worked oh so well.
-The pyrosphere was amazing, those echoing sounds almost like whale songs were slightly creepy, slightly awesome.
-The cryosphere's occasional loud drumbeat was kind of tension building... made me think something was coming after me.
-The theme of those power bomb bugs was also pretty cool.
-I also thought it was cool that the song that played in the story recap part when you continue your game was similar to the music from SM's prologue/recap.
The parts that really got me though, were the parts without music at all. Notable places that I found amazing were:
-The ambience in the rising water room, with the loud cicadas and kind of muffled atmosphere. Reminded me of a giant terrarium or deep jungle.
-The elevator rooms: echoing footsteps and just the echoing automated voice in the background was way creepy.
-The muffled sound in gravity areas.

Love love loved the sound design! Anyway, enough of my ranting.

I loved the fact that half of our goofy theories were true.
Samus leaves the GF because of the guy in the photo (Adam's brother Ian) dying, Choogle turns into El Pollo Loco turns into Ridley, Metroids were in the game, "BSL" was the reincarnation of Mother Brain (love ya, Satch), a Fusion boss returned (I fucking love Nightmare), Lyle died first (Fuck. At least it seems like Ridley killed him.)
and Anthony fucking Higgs was the best character in the game. Damn right we'll remember him, he needs to be in every Metroid game in the future, so long as Sakamoto stays the hell away from it.

I loved the atmosphere. Despite the disappointing lack of music, the soundscape was utterly barren and desolate, and reeked of mystery and death. The level design was excellent, despite the cliche BSL wannabe setting, and there was a recurring feeling of "this is new" throughout each sector, while at the same time emulating the feel of the old 2D Metroids. It felt familiar and new, at the same time.

The gameplay was fucking amazing, I cannot get enough of it. I found myself backtracking to enemy-laden areas just for the sake of killing things with the amazing combat system, Team Ninja did a Metroid good. I really hope they sign on for future titles, they treated us a lot better than Sakamoto did. Sense Move is fun as hell, and the different beams were amazingly powerful-feeling. Especially with all five Accel. Charges, I can tell you enough about how fun it is to lay out a fully-charged Plasma Blast every second. Speedboosting was perfect as well. Sadly, the Morph Ball felt a bit tacked-on, but it did have a purpose in combat. Charging up your beam and balling up releases a wave of bombs, just like in Super Metroid, and with devastating results for the HOMICIDAL ICE GEEMERS that might decide to Zerg Rush you.

The fan service was quite delicious. Ridley,
Nightmare, and Phantoon
were exceptionally well done, and the
Metroid Queen and her broodlings
made for a ridiculously intense boss battle. It also feels like Project M tuned-in to how much we liked Anthony Higgs, and made him as badass as possible. And while I may be flamed for this, I thought Samus was very well-done. Her more delicate moments, as I like to call them, are perfectly justified: Other M was just a very bad day for Samus. A very, very bad day.

Other M is given a lot of grief, but other than the last five seconds of the plot (Really, there is no such thing as a good plot that discards all previous plot points in favor of a new, completely random one in the last five minutes.) I found Other M to be a near-perfect game.

EDIT: sorry for forgetting to tag my spoilers. I messed up pretty bad. :[
