I'v talked to a few people latly and they said you can't beat the game without the grappling hook, and i told them they were tards, because i do no grappling hook runs all the time. You just gotta have hella skills with wall jumping and boosting.

Helps if we know which game you're talking about. Over half the Metroid games now have a grappling beam or some variation of that item. I think most of these except the Prime games have been beaten without the Grappling Hook, but I'm not too familiar with sequence breaking.

But if the post is in the Classic forum, and wall jumping and boosting is involved, it must be Super Metroid.

I've beaten SM without it before as well as no Hi-Jump boots. It sure made me better at wall jumping and bomb climbing.

Yeah, I did a no-Grapple Beam run once in Super Metroid. It was hard to do some of the sequence breaks, but I managed it.

Hey, Super is the only Classic game with a grappling beam!

Doing a run without a grapple beam is EASY, want a challenge? Beat the game without using missiles against your enemies, even harder challenge, same thing + no grapple beam into broken turret to kill Draygon (whatever that Maridia boss name is).

I always hated using the grapple beam to easily kill Draygon. I enjoy the long battle more.

Very few times do i use the "turrets" to kill it, the long battle is better indeed.

They are useful for speed running though. I remember when I first figured out how to do it all those years ago. It seemed like such an accomplishment at the time.

Beating the game without using the grapple beam is easier than beating the game with using the grapple beam.
Although it is tricky to get the spring ball without the grapple beam, that's really the only place in the game where another item isn't preferable.
Skipping all boots and grapple beam is a fun challenge though. And if you know what you're doing, you still don't even need to bomb jump.

I STILL cannot bomb climb in that game. I don't have the patience to learn the timing. ZM, however, makes it easy. I never tried to kill Draygon the normal way, either.
Kejardon! Are you on the IGN Metroid forums??

Yeah, all you need to do is wall jumping.

No, I stopped going to the GameFAQs/IGN board a while back.
