Naw, it's already been spoiled. I've seen so many playthroughs of it, the whole game's jammed into my head. Doesn't mean it won't be fun playing it myself, though.

I made the dash mistakes my first time too, and I never did get good at shinesparking untill after I played fusion.
Beating Phantoon rules because the next stop is the gravity suit. That's when you really feel free.
I do reccomend playing SM even if you've seen it done before. It's a totally different experience that sucks you right in.

Once you've played through Super a few times, I strongly recommend downloading Super Metroid Redesign. It's what Super Metroid should have been, as it's even better than the original game, imho.

When I finished Prime 3, my first metroid game (I am a very, very, VERY late Metroid fan -_-; ), I immediatly downloaded SM for the VC. It's amazing! The game is as old as I am (boot up your calculators! :P ) and I loved it. And yes, I got stuck at the n00b bridge. Once I figured there is a button you can use to run FASTER I never got stuck again. :D

Hmm... Super Metroid Redesign sounds interesting... I should give it a try once.
In space, no one can hear you scream.
But for some reason, Neo-Ridley is perfectly audible. >_<

Oh God, if you're doing a low percentage run of SM and you use missiles on Phantoon, he's an ass to beat. (Flying fire rings!) And if you didn't know, he doesn't go to the top of the room and attack with flaming half-circles if you use the Charge Beam only.

Super missiles work fine on Phantoon as long you dodge his blue-fire-arcs. The easiest way to do this is to pseudo-screw attack through them. The reason more people don't use supers on phantoon is that it takes a long time, and most vids of gameplay are concentrated on speed.

The fastest way to kill him is to get him into a certain attack mode by hitting him with a charged wave-spazer or charged ice-spazer shot. (For some reason, a charged wave-ice-spazer combo is too strong and doesn't make him go into his attack mode.) Once he is stunned by the shot you can hit him 3 more times with the same shot, or with reg. missiles, or combos of the two until he becomes invisible again.

That is true. The fire arcs are easy to avoid with a pseudo-Screw Attack.

Hm, that's a good strategy. I may try it myself sometime.

I never could do the pseudo-screw for the whole battle. Miss the timing once it was impossible to get back in the groove in later rounds. Just did the smash and grab for the rest of the fight. I think I hated fighting him the most.
Draygon is probably the most fun to fight.

Especially if you use the Grapple Beam trick or the Blue Suit.
