Is Metroid: Zero Mission canon? My friend and I got into an argument about whether Zero Mission was canon or not. I posted this same question on gamefaqs a while back and they all said it was, but his response was "They are all 'col of duty' fans and are the stupid half of the Metroid Fans. I now come here to you people who are fans of Metroid and ask the same question. Is Zero Mission canon? Please back up your response with some reasons. Thanks.

Re: Is Metroid: Zero Mission canon? It is the remake of the original. Therefore it takes place instead of the original Metroid.
So it's canon. Thanks CC For The Sig!"Statement: Oh, do shut up, you beeping little trash compactor." ―HK-47 to T3-M4 |

Re: Is Metroid: Zero Mission canon? To expand on why he thinks it's not canon and that it's in some sort of 'alternate universe' is that you get the items differently. Another reason is that there is that whole section with the Zero Suit. If these could be addressed it would help a lot. Thanks

Re: Is Metroid: Zero Mission canon? Please do not picture post
As for Zero Mission, the game is canon. There are no real explanations for the changes besides the fact that Nintendo wanted to remake the game and add things to the original. It's a Nintendo Franchise that Nintendo published and released a game of. Both NES Metroid and Zero Mission are canon, it merely added more depth with the Zero Mission version. Your friend needs to go see the Nintendo pages. If it's on Nintendo's site, it's pretty canon, not to mention that they published it. There's no alt universe or anything like that. Re: Is Metroid: Zero Mission canon?Zero Mission came out most recently, so it's canon. And as for the Zero Suit part, if you've noticed, the Zero Suit has been in every Metroid game since, so that's pretty obviously canon.

Re: Is Metroid: Zero Mission canon? To clarify, Zero Mission is 100% canon, and replaces Metroid 1, rather than being set in an alternate universe, not being canon, or being a filler correct?

Re: Is Metroid: Zero Mission canon?yep. Metroid NES is non-canon as of zero mission's release.

Re: Is Metroid: Zero Mission canon?I don't think you can say that Metroid NES is non-canon just because ZM is a remake of that game.
Notice how in timeline discussions, the first thing in the timeline is always "Metroid/Zero Mission" They compliment each other. Zero Mission and Metroid are essentially interchangeable as far as events go right up till the Mother Brain fight. Zero Mission shows that something else happened RIGHT as you were escaping during the original Metroid. So it's not like Metroid is now non-canon, it's now shown as something with supplemental material; that is to say, ZM.

Re: Is Metroid: Zero Mission canon?Hey, haven't I see you on gamefaqs Shah? It's just like we said over there. Zero Mission is completely canon! No alternate universes, no filler. It replaces the original Metroid.

Re: Is Metroid: Zero Mission canon?Well, Zero Mission does add more stuff other than just the Zero Suit part after MB. Take Chozodia or Crateria for instance.

Re: Is Metroid: Zero Mission canon?metroid is still canon

Re: Is Metroid: Zero Mission canon?Yes Plas, it's me. Anyway, I'm posting here because he thinks the ALL the gamefaqs people are trolls and stuff and don't know anything about Metroid so I came here. He also said yesterday that both CANNOT be canon. I told him that Zero Mission replaces Metroid. Hes really stubborn but if enough people say that Zero Mission is a real metroid game and not a filler or not canon, he should believe it.

Re: Is Metroid: Zero Mission canon?Sounds like your friend likes to be silly for no reason.
Think of it this way. Nintendo went to the effort of remaking a 25-year-old game precisely so they could establish it firmly as canon, rather than have people debate its importance in the overall chronology. |
