Super Metroid Sprites: Torizo

Postby ChozoBoy » 05.21.10 6:17am

Just a quick question to anyone that knows how the sprite data is stored in SM (specifically for the Torizo), is it like this inside the data (i.e. tiles, as I suspect) or are they in rotating/translating pieces like this?

I suspect it is the former, but I'm asking on the off-chance that it may be the latter. It's for some crazy project that I'm going to hammer out somewhere in the next two months.

I took a snapshot of the VRAM while playing the game. That's all the graphics used by the Torizo.

ROFL. You're cosplaying as a Torizo??? GOOD LUCK. XD
I've been to Otakon a couple times. It's basically the 2nd largest and best Anime Convention in this country. Their game room is fantastic.

By the way, when doing this proportion study, I'd noticed how incredibly long their forearms are!

I can't help you too much on this project because the cosplays I do are all 'human' based, also I tend to not spend a lot of time or money on them. However, I believe I can help you that arm problem. I saw a good cosplayer of Wolf Link from TP and the person also needed to have longer arms for that cosplay. So they had him/her hold the rods while inside in the cosplay. It turned out looking pretty good.

Yeah, I'm considering some types of extensions. Fortunately, they wont need to support my weight like a quadruped costume, but it is still sort of annoying.

A Torizo cosplay sounds interesting. I've never actually been in a cosplay before so yeah...

I hope you do great with your cosplay! z;)

Yeah, that other thread in General Metroid Discussion about the some cosplay had a man in a Torizo Costume.

Could it be Chozoboy?

Hey what's the yellow thing, yeah, the eye-like thing, an unused sprite? It doesn't fit with the rest.

Aren't those the egg-like projectiles that it scatters?

I think it's the inside of the item ball, if you look at it here you'll see that it isn't glowing.
