Wii VC Metroids easier?

Postby Sorcerio » 08.31.10 1:29pm

After playing Other M I decided it would be fun to go through Super Metroid again. Rather than digging out my SNES I thought I'd hook myself up with it on Wii's Virtual Console.

So I'm playing and playing. Everything seems normal.
Got to Kraid and defeated him with 4 super missiles and maybe a couple of regular missiles. The fight took about 2 minutes.

I remember him being way way more difficult in the past, playing on SNES.

Did Nintendo make the enemies in Super Metroid easier by giving them less health?
And if so, did they do the same for Metroid?

I think it's a matter you being older and more skilled... I went through the same thing a while back.

Thanks :awesome:
Or maybe knowing what to do before the fight began, and getting lucky enough not to brick any super missiles on his hand.

We'll see. If Draygon turns out to be just as much cake, then I'll really be suspicious.

Draygon was always easy. You just had to have enough energy tanks to withstand the electrocution. :awesome:

That was always my hardest boss. Getting picked up and spanked like a brat = no fun! XD

Always found Draygon easy before I managed to get the electrocution method down pat.

First, destroy the turrets while the Evir are leaving. There's a piece of foreground on the floor that looks something like a Sciser right in the middle of the room. Crouch here holding aim diagonally up with Super Missiles selected and then follow this method:

1) If Draygon swoops in quickly from the side, fire a Super Missile and quickly Morph Ball down to avoid being clipped by the tail, rolling if it looks like you're going to get hit. Always roll towards Draygon (ie: in the direction it came from, not the direction it's heading.).
2) If Draygon glides in from the side slowly, spewing globs; just spam missiles as fast as you can for as long as you can before running off to the side Draygon is heading too, hopping onto the raised floor, and jumping over Draygon. Flash gits such as myself will do so with a wall jump.
3) Draygon always enters the room from the same side it leaves, unless it catches you; in which case it'll just come from the same side as last time.

At least that's how I remember it. It's been a long time since I learned the perfect electrocution method, and unless you're doing a low Energy Tank run it's perhaps the best method to kill Draygon. Health shouldn't matter, there's a recharge room above Draygon's, so you've no excuse to fry the bastard.

Thank you! Step 2 was always my issue. Those darn globs!
I'll use this tip when I play tonight.

Oh yeah, this happened to me in the best way possible.

Back when I was a kid, I always had trouble with Kraid.

Here now, I accidentally triggered the "Kill Kraid before he gets up" glitch. I was like "oh, great, I'm TOO skilled to beat this game", until of course I found I could leave the room and it'd be fine.

Nah Super Metroid has always been easy. By far the easiest game in the series.

On my third run ever of Super Metroid, I realized that i had died maybe a total of 3 times in the entire game.

Actually, I found Kraid easier, but Ridley MUCH MUCH HARDER.

Yeah I'm pretty sure if it was easier we would be hearing about new completion time records.

VC Super Metroid is harder in my opinion because it's so much harder to reliably pull off wall jumps and even changing direction whilst space jumping is harder. I guess its got more to do with the classic controller than the game itself :-?

Yeah, its the controllers. The Classic Controller and the GameCube controllers spazz out when you try to space jump/Screw attack. IT SUCKS
