@Metroid 2004, where/what do you do next after killing Kraid? I'm stuck at that point. I'm assuming there's something to do with the Speed Booster which allows you to get to Ridley's Lair? I hit the L-1 switch, but don't know what it does or where to go next. EDIT: made it to the lower portion of Norfair, but still haven't found the entrance to Ridley's lair yet... Getting kinda frustrated. WHERE IS THE WAVE BEAM!?
You have to search in the south of Norfair (not lower norfair), where you have to go through a fake lava layer.
I'm also stuck at Ridley's lair, and I have metroid2004's inventory.

-_-; Found the Wave Beam shortly after I made the post. Still can't find how to get to Ridley's Lair. Found back door to get back to Kraid, though. Where's the way to Ridley's? Do I utilize the Wave Beam somehow? Help... I've also only collected 1 of the unknown items... EDIT: figured it out... this game never lets up! Big Hint - figuring out Ridley's Lair is very much like Ridley's Lair in Metroid 1. While you play, you should invoke its level design/gameplay puzzles at all times.

thanks. I now have Grapple beam, Super Missiles, Varia Suit and Spazer. I also beat Crocomire but couldnt find a major upgrade past him. Only a missile and energy tank. Should i have Ice Beam by now? Iv seen several places where it seems like i was supposed to use it....

Beat Ridley and made it into the next area, which is the Space Pirate ship.
@Aetherech0s: If you haven't defeated Spore Spawn yet, you shouldn't have the Ice Beam Speed Booster. Let me know if you need further guidance.

Iv already beat Spore Spawn. I was just wondering if i should have had Ice already since you said in an earlier post that you had Ice Beam and High Jump before beating Kraid. Iv yet to find either, and im only about 5 rooms away from him or so. Im stuck in the room after the save room, after the fake kraids. The door is white like theres an event i havent done or something. As i said earlier, i beat Crocomire in Norfair, but didnt find any major upgrades afterwards. Was i supposed to have?
Well, I kinda "cheated" getting the High Jump early by mockballing. It is acquired in Norfair -- you have to mockball underneath a gate before it closes. iirc, I thought the Ice Beam was right above Spore Spawn? If not, what item was that? I don't remember...
Update: well, I may have to give up and start over... Really don't want to but it might come to that. There's a point in the game where you have to "sneak" around the Space Pirate ship, basically meaning, you can't damage the Red Pirates with your current weaponry. And since save points do not refill your HP/Missiles anyway, I've resorted to using savestates, making it extremely not fun. The worst part is the game doesn't give you any chance at all to regain ANY life, so if you don't have any life left, you're just fucked... man, this sucks.

Hey, I've been lurking here for a few years and finally decided to create an account. Infinity's End wrote:Update: well, I may have to give up and start over... I actually came across this when the video was first posted, and kept checking back, so I downloaded it a few days before it was posted on MDB, and I've had the chance to get a bit further. All I can say is that I ended up abusing save states a LOT. The game is pretty easy up until you beat Ridley, and then it's consistently very difficult. (read: nearly impossible without save states). There is another area later on were I had to go back to an old save state, because I was left with very little energy, after a save station, and right before a tough boss battle with no way to recover.

Awww, crap. The hack seemed good until now. It went to MZM-hard mode to Kaizo-hard, isn't it? That's stuff like this that kills the fun for good.
Looks like someone has to hack the hack so we can freeze the pirates and having refilling save rooms.

How did you beat Kraid? After a while he stops shooting the top and mid level spike ledges. The bottom ones arent high enough to hit him from. Iv spent 30 minutes just standing there, shooting the claw nails and jumping over the bottom spike ledges and he refuses to shoot the other ones. Theres no way i cant reach him with my shots if i walljump up high enough because he stays out of screen. It seems impossible to me....
EDIT* i gave up. Used gamegenie codes for space jump so i could hit him anyway.

I have still no clue where Ridleys Room is. Everywhere are these stupid Power Bomb and Speed Booster blocks, but there is never enough space to build up enough speed (even with the trick that lets you build up enough speed in a shorter way)... Damn hack, it started so good, but Ridleys Lair is kinda screwed up in my opinion The way to Ridley should be more clear. A question to all here, who have beaten Ridley: Is there any trick with the Speed Booster in this hack? Like flying against a 45° wall and start to run again, instead of flying forwards (like in Zero Mission and Fusion)? In the Read Me File is something writen I don't really understand, so I'm wondering if there is any trick I haven't found out yet.

Yes, to get into ridley's room, you must chain a Shinespark together, aka "Boost Dashing". I helped retranslate the English ReadMe, so it explains it a little better: ·Boost Dash is accomplished by pushing the dash button and either Left or Right on the Dpad on a slope during a horizontal shinespark. However, do not push other buttons. So basically: 1.) Get speed for a Shinespark and press Down to get a charge. 2.) Press Jump and then the direction you want to Horizontal Shinespark. 3.) The moment you Shinespark, press and hold the direction you are moving and the Dash Button at the same time. 4.) Optional: Press Down to reset the Shinespark charge.
There is a part where you have to chain a Shinespark together and get up to a platform. After you break that first Speed Booster wall, you have to jump across dissolving bridges with the Spring Ball.
Thanks IE I switched Emulators and it worked. I did not think the emulator would matter so much, I am not used to patching games, this is the first time I ever have. I will come back when I get really lost

I knew there had to be such a thing Gonna try it when I am back at Ridleys Lair in my second Playthrough (with the newer Version). So far I haven't seen any changes in the map. But only to think about all these rooms in Ridleys Lair with those Speed Booster blocks.... Ohh man
