That device activates after
you "bomb-activate" a structure elsewhere in Kraid.
First you need the
ice beam, which you can find in Norfair after defeating Crocomire. If you can't find Crocomire, look for the green bubbles. There's a hidden passage through the bubbles in a room shortly after Crocomire's room that leads to the ice beam.
Then make your way
back to Kraid, where behind a kinda-obvious secret passage, you can ice-beam your way up a tower filled with rippers to reach the structure you need to bomb-activate.
I'm having a problem patching this game, I downloaded the Super Metroid (JU).smc, the Super Zero Mission Patch, and a pathing tool but its not working.

Is there any links to specific files I should download? Or a help tutorial somewhere? When it patches it said it did it correctly but it doesn't work. I use Windows 7, for my emulator I use SNESx9 and all the patching tools except for like one I found was for Mac =/

I am a HUGE Metoird fan and really want to play this game but nothing is working ;___;

It has to be an unhearded rom. It can be identified by a [!] inside the Rom's name

Like: Super Metroid (JU)[!].smc

I just downloaded the ROM again and it worked just fine. I suggest you try getting the ROM somewhere else (don't say where you got it or where you're going to look next).

You could also try getting different a ROM patching tool. (Are we allowed to say what patching tool we used? Or link to it?)

Is there anyway someone can just email me the correct file and the patching tool you used in an email? I just tried it again and again and it won't work.

I have windows 7

You can use LunarIPS to patch the file. Though I can't stop anyone, this forum should not be a way for others to trade ROMs, either by email or otherwise. Google is your friend. Don't just expect everything to be spoon fed to you.
If all else fails, try removing the header manually, or switching emulators. That tool I linked to can also patch ROMs.

I'm still early in the game with a grapple beam, charge shot, 50 regular missiles, bombs, 3 tanks, and I'm stuck in the room where you get the Ice Beam because the door locks on you with a super lock. I know you're supposed to beat a certain someone to even get them, but wouldn't you need the ice beam to do it in the first place? It's kind of like the chicken and the egg problem, which one came first. I did however see a super missile pack earlier, but that needs super missiles as well to get to.

I'm stuck at this point on what to do, should I just start over?
Also have no clue as to where I was supposed to get Super Missiles first besides that spore boss
I was stuck here for a while as well. You have to roll between the Chozo's legs.

Hi everyone been enjoying this great hack but im stuck in kraid after just getting the grapple beam and not sure what to do. It's hard to describe but there's an area up top where you have to bomb a switch in order to access a previous grayed out door on the left side to proceed forward. Problem is I don't know how to get up there. Bomb jumping is out of the question because of a flying beetle enemy flying back and forth and I don't have an ice beam to use it as a platform. Help!

Get the Ice Beam.

Below is an except from my quick-guide post:
Yes, you can get the Ice Beam BEFORE Super Missiles and WITHOUT sequence-breaking (You're SUPPOSED to get Ice Beam before Super Missiles). Doing so involves first defeating Crocomire. Once you have the Varia Suit, explore Norfair as much as you can and when you get to a point where you're blocked by power-bomb blocks, bomb around the bubbles on the left wall. Follow that path to Crocomire. Once you defeat Crocomire, one of the rooms after him has a hidden passage in the bubbles there (just walk through them). Follow that path to get to the Ice Beam. Once you do, you can escape the room by rolling between the Chozo statue's legs.
How do you get to the varia suit? Basically im in the room right below the tunnel that leads up to it on the left hand side(where I can use the grapple beam in said room), the one with the endless spawning orbs that come out of the walls. I saw a video walkthrough where someone was able to bomb jump up there, but it may have been a sequence break as it now seems impossible for me to do playing the latest version of the hack. The enemy orbs spawn and move much faster now, no time to slowly bomb jump up. So im wondering, do I need hi jump boots and speed booster before i can get varia?
