You are claiming that a random fan hack is the best Metroid game bar-none? Better even than Super Metroid? Yeah, I think most people on this forum will laugh at you.

Of course not, you're jumping to conclusions. What I'm saying is it surpasses their gameplay (i.e. the adventures that they establish), and their challenge. The hack will never be able to surpass the old games in terms of quality and historical value.

The hack features Level Design that makes full use of all of Samus's abilities, though. Something the other games absolutely do not.

I actually managed to get X-Ray Visor. Hoo boy that was tough, clever and awesome. You basically have to infiltrate the Space Pirate Ship undetected and get all the way to the final boss area to find the 4th lock without triggering any of the alarms otherwise those red gates will come down and stop you. Absolutely ridiculous to get but pretty freaking awesome. Feels like Metal Gear Samus when you pull it off. Were it an XBL achievement it'd be worth 50G to get the X-Ray Visor it's that hard.

I'm so glad I happened upon your post about the hack IE, it's quickly become my favorite SM hack by far. Everything just feels perfect from the difficulty (minus a few parts in the pirate ship) to the hidden items (also minus a number of shinespark puzzles) to the worlds and item orders themselves. After finding the huge number of secrets and shortcuts in the Pirate ship I wouldn't be surprised if such things are hidden throughout the whole planet, allowing the player to sequence break all over the place.

I think the best thing is that I played it on my Wii using a Classic Controller, so it was like playing SM again right down to the controls. I died, reloaded, pressed onwards plenty, only pulling out savestates for the X-Ray run. I'm trying to spread word of the hack past the confines of this forum because it certainly deserves attention. I'm looking forward to your review when you get around to writing it.

If anyone wants details on how to get X-Ray or infiltrate the pirate base I can provide some help.

If that's true, and you have to get to the final area undetected to get the X-Ray, it sucks. Honestly, that would be just crap. I bet there must be some way to get to the Lvl 4 Lock even after you triggered the alarm on the ship.

There is an energy tank and a missile expansion next to eachother somewhere in chozodia, and they are both protected by one of those orange gates. It would be just crap in my opinion if you have to get there undetected to get them both.
You won't get the Gravity Suit or L-4 Doors until you have completed the Trial of the Chozo. You'll know what I mean when you find it. It's located in Chozodia.
Also, expect my review on the MDb very soon. If you are willing to create a map for this hack, we would be more than willing to host it here on the site.

You must try to go into the upper left corner of that room. That's the next area to go. Use your Grapple Beam.

P.S. I see you've also tried to attempt that hard-as-balls Shinespark puzzle... :P

You can actually get those items by shinesparking up at them from below, I found that out on accident. but for X-Ray, the pathing is too well thought out, it's definitely intended for the player to do all that to get to the Lv4 lock.

Ok, haven't tried to shinespark there ^^ My fault.

But the thing with the X-Ray...
You enter the ship, try to open the Lvl 2-Lock, trigger the alarm (normal players wouldn't try my trick with all this walljumping and mid-air morping to prevent the alarm), run for your life and survive this hell, and then when you come back later, you see the X-Ray. You think "Let's try to find these locks and open them." but it's impossible already? Sorry, that's just unfair in my opinion.

First I wanted to get all the missing items, but hey, no chance anymore. Would have to start a new playthrough. The creator of this hack should write this in his Read Me or somewhere else, so anybody knows about it. I could imagine that more people like me are a bit angry because of this.
Why is shinesparking impossible for me?

When I want Samus to shinespark horizontally, I do what you all say: jump, then push the direction you want. But no. She won't listen to you. All she can do is going up. Mayber that's because i'm HOLDING the direction just after I push jump. But shit still doesn't work.

And even if the horizontal shinespark works, when Samus is on a diagonal way, pressing down to reset the charge doesn't work at all.

Can someone help me please?

Yeah, unfortunately the hack doesn't fix shinesparking so it's perfect and responsive. Just like you said - tap jump, and then the direction you want to go. If you don't press it within a certain time frame, she will always go upwards. You need to press it right after she does that little "up hop" thing before she takes off.

Thanks for that, but there's still no way I can pass through the famous speed booster wall from lower Norfair. It's like the hack is literally mocking you.

I want to hack the patch so I can make shinesparking as easy as it was in Fusion and Zero Mission, but I don't have programming skills.

are you talking about the one on the path to Ridley? It's green and it has those beehive shape tiles everywhere? I'm not exactly sure but I think there's a way to bypass that without Boost Dashing, however it might be more difficult/frustrating. :/ You have to boost to the left, kneel, spin jump to the left to a platform, spin jump to the right to a platform, and then Boost Dash, right?

P.S. Found this over at the MetConst forums... this is why this game is awesome! :awesome: :awesome: :awesome:

Glad to see more people are enjoying it as much as I did.
